Whilst the other games offered smaller updates to the main game, On Holiday brings in an entirely new location with a whole stack of new features and objects you can interact with.

A decent start to the inevitable franchise, Universe at War's solid Campaign and range of game modes for both online and offline RTS action offers enough for players to get on with. The fact that it also introduces new features such as dynamic tactical upgrades to units on the fly also helps to make Petroglyph's latest stand out.

This is a game will appeal to FPS fans, and whilst it isn't genre defining, this should be the start of a successful franchise for Sony.

The ‘instant gratification’ test from Flatout is very high which is always a good marker. Flatout does not profess to be anything but an out and out ‘revving foot on the pedal and try to waste the opposition’ game.

Heavenly Sword provides exactly what the PlayStation3 is in dire need of. An extremely stylish and immediate action romp that will entertain the masses and earn points for its faultless presentation and production. Nevertheless, it isn't quite the game we were hoping for and leaves a number of areas for improvement when Nariko struts her stuff on the PlayStation3 once again.

It’s far closer to the seasonal updates that interspersed the "Championship Manager" series. That said the list of enhancements do make a great game even better and will be fully appreciated by the fanatics.

For PS3 owners who are looking for something other than the usual tactical third person shooter, particularly those of you who are Capcom fans, Lost Planet is well worth a look.

It does an excellent job of tying together the fragmented series that includes the Hunter and Saviour variations, resulting in a must-have for anybody who’s enjoyed the titles from the past.

Driving around Tokyo is something that some Midnight Club gamers will have never achieved thanks to the challenge that was Midnight Club 2, so it's rather helpful of Rockstar to package the city into Remix for all to enjoy from the off.

Beyond Good & Evil HD remains a triumph of exploration and adventure. Sure, it's wildly imperfect by current-gen standards, but it can still teach today's powerhouse blockbusters a thing or two in terms of gameplay design and the creation of immersive worlds.

Represents a number of things to us, firstly it’s perhaps SEGA being at their most creative best and quirkily original for the last few years; secondly in our opinion the game utilises virtually all that the Nintendo DS has to offer.

This is a fantastic well crafted adventure with an epic story and plenty of aspects to keep you busy for a long time indeed.

The little inaccuracies can be forgotten by all but the most die-hard of Star Wars fans, whilst there are enough cosmetic touches to differentiate this from "AoE2" and allow you to submerse yourself in the Star Wars universe.

An engaging entry in the overcrowded shooter genre, Frontlines: Fuel of War does enough sufficiently differently to warrant interest from anybody looking for something a little complimentary to CoD and Halo. Little more than linking the traditional checkpoint structure, the frontline dynamic nonetheless instills a sense of originality throughout the game and certainly something we'd like to see further developed in a sequel - and it only gets better in multiplayer.

It's certainly not perfect and isn't for everyone; however if you're looking for something suitably different, something that you can just whack on and enjoy for a few hours here and there and more importantly something so Nintendo, then you may just end up devoting your life to Animal Crossing.

It's visual splendour; novel yet neat additions and generally tight gameplay will ensure the time until the next ISS goes that little bit quicker, OK I'll admit it I'm hooked.

A strong control system combined with high quality presentation and humour, results in one of the most entertaining titles of its kind on the handheld format.

It’s a game that has almost unlimited replay value and depth, whilst the tutorial section does an admirable job of introducing you to the genre if you’re new to this type of game.

I find it a real shame that the whole tactical side was dropped, as not only would controlling a mob add more depth it now seems that the use of hundreds of AI characters has been a complete waste of time.

Forget the strive for realism, FIFA Street 2 is a pure unadulterated videogame take on footie. It's fun, fun, fun throughout the game and there's a surprisingly deep single-player experience to sustain your interest.

Easily the best of the Nam titles this year, and quite probably the best war FPS title since 2015's "Allied Assault," MoV manages to create a sense of guerrilla warfare to a level unrivalled by its peers.

Forza 4 is about as technically impressive as driving sims currently get – fans of the series are sure to be pleased with its near-peerless handling and tuning, expanded feature set, and Kinect implementation. When it comes to being a game, however, lazy oversights with the AI mean that you end up racing yourself more than your opponents, and concessions to the casual gamer sometimes compromise the core experience.

So the game is mainly a case of refinement to the point of perfection, but the problem is that if you’ve already got Tony Hawk 3 there’s very little reason to pick this game up.

The wall jump from Mario 64 is perhaps the single best introduction to NEW Super Mario Bros.
