  1. It perhaps started with "The Queen," continued with "Young Victoria" and now achieves the most intimate glimpse inside the royal camp to date with The King's Speech.
  2. Well-made and acted Coen Brothers remake lacks the humor and resonance that might have made it memorable.
  3. The movie features a great finish, where three movies' worth of subplots and characters dovetail into a breathtaking climax and final confrontation that is positively soul satisfying.
  4. In retelling the still-astonishing story of the political career of Eliot Spitzer, a shooting star whose spectacular crash might forever obscure his accomplishments, Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney has all the ingredients for a potboiler: greed, corruption, sex, power, overweening ambition and jaw-dropping hubris.
  5. Overall, though, the project brings enough good into this rough corner of the world that viewers can walk out with honest cause to be hopeful for its inhabitants.
  6. A hilarious farce and a brilliant takedown of the imbecility of fanaticism.
  7. Beyond its visual splendors, however, the film achieves searing moral power.
  8. Filmmaker Javier Fuentes-Leon's delicately and sensuously illuminates this collision of contemporary sexuality with centuries of dogma and tradition. At times, he interjects magical realist elements into the story, which makes it confusing rather than lifting it to a higher plane of understanding.
  9. Running almost two hours, its increasingly convoluted narrative may be too difficult to follow for younger viewers. But its thematic ambition and dazzling visual style ultimately make it one of the more rewarding anime efforts to reach these shores.
  10. While the film is occasionally frustrating in its lack of analysis, it nonetheless delivers a riveting portrait of the driven and troubled Mugianis.
  11. Kenneth Bowser's terrific documentary is a poignant portrait of an uncompromising artist.
  12. Easily one of the most dynamic cinematic portraits of that decaying, vibrant, impossible city ever made; it treats the city itself as a character.
  13. Chris Hemsworth gives a breakout performance as fallen Norse god.
  14. As frank, discerning and eloquent as its subjects, The Woodmans is one of the most affecting art-themed documentaries.
  15. Affectionate, funny and action-packed sci-fi spoof.
  16. The film is best appreciated as a showcase for the hugely popular titular character, with Perry tearing into the role with hugely entertaining comic gusto.
  17. Cohen employs a comic range that ricochets between wicked political barbs and the lowest anatomical farce, to often funny and occasionally hilarious effect.
  18. Manages to deliver more laughs than most of the competition.
  19. The final installment of the immortal Bella/Edward romance will give its breathlessly awaiting international audience just what it wants.
  20. The key to its success lies in the determination by everyone involved to play the damn thing straight. Even the slightest goofiness, the tiniest touch of camp, and the whole thing would blow sky high. But it doesn't.
  21. Goes a long way in bringing sexy back to a soggy genre, benefiting greatly from the presence of its likable leads.
  22. Audacious, confident and fueled by youthful energy.
  23. A visually dazzling adaptation of the legendary – at least outside the US – comic book series by Belgian artist Herge.
  24. While the two leads deliver the goods and manage to combine a frisky sense of first love with the movie's gloomier arc, they are well-served by a terrific supporting cast.
  25. Cooler cars and more action follow Lightning and Mater as they mix it up with spies and Formula 1 racers in yet another Pixar winner.
  26. While the concept may sound schematic, it is brought to vivid life by wonderful characterizations.
  27. So it's a fun, if not exhilarating, ride, one sped along with the help of a wonderfully assembled cast.
  28. A perfectly diverting romp that happens to showcase some of the best 3D work yet from a mainstream animated feature. Colorful, clever enough, free of cloying showbiz in-jokes, action-packed without being ridiculous about it and even well choreographed.
  29. Although not exactly breaking any new ground with its by now all too familiar found-footage format, Paranormal Activity 3 hews to the formula in expertly crafted fashion, mustering up the requisite scares and then some.
  30. Strong action, special effects and by far the most credible ape "performances" yet seen will spell box office to inspire chest-thumping in all markets.
