Assigning a bad rating to Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is a dirty job, but someone had to do it. Reduced to the bone content and one of the most feeble rollbacks I've ever seen condemn to insufficiency an extraordinary but outdated game, unable in its current state to offer an online infrastructure that guarantees the development of a healthy community. We hope that the new chapter in such a prestigious series will not suffer from such neglect.

In Sound Mind is a well-done psychological horror, fun and stimulating from start to finish. It’s less scary than expected and could be improved from a technical standpoint, but the mix of gameplay elements knows how to stimulate the player by offering them a new element to use in each level.

The Escapists 2 improves on basically everything good the original game (released in 2015) had to offer. The mission system is complex and detailed, the combat system is pretty friendly and the quests alone are well designed and fun to play, whether you’re alone or with some friends in multiplayer.

At a first glance you might think Vesper is something like Limbo with robots, but it's actually a great puzzle platformer with a bit of stealth. Thanks to the generous amount of checkpoints, it can be played as a casual game, a couple of screen at a time, or trying to beat the best time in a speed run, thanks to the embedded stopwatch allowing you to record and publish your game sessions without further editing. Great graphics and sound, with a gentle difficulty curve balanced by achievements not that easy to unlock. A debut with a bang for the guys from Cordens Interactive, who were able to mix a compelling story with a great gameplay.

The Medium on PS5 is pretty much as good as it was on Xbox Series X, despite some graphic flaws and loading issues. Luckily, the DualSense features manage to fill the gap.

Tell Me Why is an intriguing narrative game, an intimate story capable of discussing complex themes using the power of a story that lives between reality and fiction, and that never sounds pretentious. If you like this kind of story-based games and have followed DONTNOD since Life is Strange, you will not be disappointed.

AI War 2 breaks the rules of grand strategy games and puts players out of their comfort zone. The unparalleled strategic depth and great variety of situations make this game an absolute try for every strategy fan despite terrible, terrible graphics and sound.

A very particular compilation, which collects the remakes of the two main stories of Layers of Fear, together with the two DLCs of the first chapter (one of which is unpublished) and a totally new adventure that binds everything together. The Unreal Engine 5 gives us genuinely terrifying settings and atmospheres and the "package" guarantees many hours of thrills but also manages to arouse emotions other than simple fear.

Harmony: The Fall of Reverie ia a narrative videogame with an intense story. Even if the play structure is not original, it is still well blended into the context and works admirably. A must have if you are a fan of the Don’t Nod stories.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a solid boomer shooter whose service honors the Emperor, and will certainly be very welcome by those who have been waiting for a 40k FPS since Fire Warrior. However, while it doesn’t have any significant flaw it also never really excels.

No More Heroes 3 is a glorious sequence of boss fights, spectacular, fun and crazy, but surrounded by a really bland open world. If you're a fan of Travis it remains a recommended game, especially considering the previous games adopted a very similar structure, but everyone else would do well to wait for a price drop.

The success of a Total War depends on the delicate balance between the turn-based portion of the game and the real-time strategic battles. While the latter are deep and with very few smudges, the former is extremely unbalanced and presents a series of issues – in some cases quite serious – that undermine the whole experience.

South of the Circle is a weird and fascinating experience, that mixes poor gameplay with a great script. It's essentially an interactive film, where all we're asked to do is look at the screen.

As a cinematic experience, Observation can easily be considered one of the highest points of the genre. Cool photography and a great reproduction of the space environment supports a solid and unnerving narrative. On the gameplay side, however, something did not work to the end and at least part of the screams I left to wander in space were not one of terror, but of frustration.

For a first foray into the RTS genre, Iron Harvest 1920+ is a very good proof of competence. It’s not perfect; while it’s rich in singleplayer content, six maps is too little of a pool for multiplayer, and the gameplay could use some refinement. But it’s a solid start, and the potential for greater things is definitely there.

The Outlast Trials is first and foremost an excellent stealth game in which you have to avoid enemies by hiding in the shade, under the bed or inside a wardrobe, being careful not to make any noise. After that it is an extremely brutal survival horror, in which we must carry out heinous acts without becoming victims of crazy psychopaths ready to tear us to pieces in the bloodiest ways. The atmosphere of the prison camps with no way out during the Cold War has been recreated to perfection, and it is easy to identify with the protagonist as he tries to survive, accompanied only by the crazy beating of his heart. Cooperative multiplayer with three other friends completes the offer.

Coming 27 years after its predecessor, Beyond a Steel Sky inevitably lacks the originality that made Beneath a Steel Sky such an instant classic, and a strong source of inspiration for many games that came later. Union City is now a 3D world, but it’s still filled of clever puzzles and interesting characters, shaped around Cecil and Gibbons’ view of society. It might not be as groundbreaking as the original, but Beyond a Steel Sky is still a good adventure that tries to offer a perspective on our society and how we should try to improve it without leaving anyone behind.

The concept of this Oculus exclusive stealth VR action is truly intriguing and simulative, capable of justifying the "only" tracing of the head and hands directly with the structure of the game and its environmental context - a bit like it was for Lone Echo in the field of science fiction. Behind enemy lines with a military kayak equipped to silently advance and strike. If played on Rift S, the parallel design for Quest is all too evident, especially in the polygonal complexity, and clearly the variety of the action stops at some point, but the great atmosphere, the good level of challenge, the intelligent writing of the plot and a well thought out length of the storymode (one night in real time) make Phantom Covert Ops a VR title highly recommended.

VirtuaVerse is a lot of things. It is a tribute to old school point&click adventures and, at the same time, a modern take on the genre. It is also an act of love to cyberpunk and his themes. But more than anything else, VirtuaVerse is a great adventure set in a detailed world built on a great pixel graphic, fantastic music and a suggestive atmosphere.

Inspired by Carpenter and the 80s body horror, Carrion reverses the roles and puts us in the shoes of a formless and lethal creature, in a fluid, fast and extremely choreographic metroidvania. Some AI problems and a not always inspired artistic direction do not compromise the result of one of the surprises of this 2020.

If like me you really have a hard time saying no to a soulslike, and you are out of candidates, and the idea of playing with an attractive maiden is a bit unnerving, your best option is to take another look at Elden Ring and look for some templates for the character editor. But if the Interregnum has really really bored you, then I guess AI Limit is not the worst choice you can make, just don't expect a memorable experience.
