While it sports an intriguing premise and a few jump scares that may catch you completely off guard, Rise of Insanity ultimately fails to provide anything you can’t find in other, better horror-based adventure games on the Nintendo Switch.

As a survival horror title without the classic horror elements, Heaven Dust may disappoint hardcore Resident Evil fans, but instead captures a new audience that will appreciate its solid puzzle sections and excellent world-building.

Rune Lord is nothing to write home about. Generic assets make for a fairly bland experience, and there’s little that’s interesting from a gameplay perspective to make this match-3 game stand out from the crowd.

Little Racer has the right intentions and provides a pleasant-looking racer with a credible track builder. It’s just unfortunate that the actual racing itself is lacklustre and becomes tedious after numerous repeats of the same tracks.

Goblin Sword offers an ideal commute experience with its short levels and simplistic gameplay, but that also means anyone looking for a deep or diverse experience will sadly be disappointed. This is an arcade-style action-platformer that just falls a bit short of satisfying.

The epitome of tough-but-fair, the Dead Cells: The Bad Seed Bundle will have you coming back again and again. The gameplay is captivating, the worldbuilding is intriguing, and there’s simply no better way to experience the game.

In terms of pixelated platformers on Nintendo Switch, Valfaris is a punk-powered riot, introducing enough weapons, enemies and bosses to always keep things fresh and rocking. A dodge function would have helped this to even greater heights.

Two Point Hospital is an addictive management experience which you’ll adore if you enjoyed the likes of Theme Hospital, Theme Park and Rollercoaster Tycoon. There’s a deep sense of satisfaction in getting things to click and watching the money rack up – and who doesn’t like making money?

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX looks beautiful in all of its lush hand-drawn glory, but the gameplay is still the same repetitive fare that the series has always offered up. There’s a ton of game here, but that’s if your enthusiasm lasts long enough.

Beautiful graphics, responsive mechanics, and frantic gameplay are mixed together in Dragon Ball FighterZ, a superb 2D fighting game that adapts the iconic Akira Toriyama anime in a very competent way. Despite the uninspired story mode, it presents engaging and accessible mechanics that can be enjoyed by fans and newcomers alike.

DMC3 is fast-paced, fun, and familiar. It offers up hours of hack and slash goodness which is true to the original release – for better or worse – whilst also including exclusive improvements to bring it into the modern day.

With patience and determination, Zero Zero Zero Zero can offer a challenge to test your game-playing abilities to the limits. It’s tough, but there’s satisfaction in success when the monochrome odds are against you.

The fundamentals of coding can be found in FUZE4 without the thrills and spills of other coding applications. It won’t be for everyone, but it offers a wealth of content to explore and is optimised extremely well on Switch.

Sleep Attack is a moreish tower defence with a unique mechanic that makes it feel different to those which we’ve played before. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does insert the wheel into a genre where we’re not used to seeing it.

While a little bit more challenge in the coffee-making itself would have been beneficial, Coffee Talk presents a relaxing, stylish interactive story experience, serving up a slice of life in a fascinating world that’s similar to our own, yet wildly different.

Battle Group 2 gives you control of a battleship which you tap your way to victory-via-missile. A tried-and-true premise with little in the way of deep writing or story, but the sound effects of missiles firing and exploding enemies might be enough to get you through.

It is impossible to not compare Drunk-Fu: Wasted Masters to Gang Beasts, as it provides a similar party-like experience featuring wonky physics and loose controls. However, it is underwhelming due to a mix of bad performance and questionable control choices.

For the price point, Deadlings offers a lot of content, executed with consistency in quality, and with enough variation to feel fresh. This is a really solid title that doesn’t outstay its welcome, and is a worthy addition for your eShop collection.

If you’re here for story, look elsewhere. Blue Rider wants you to devote all your time to destroying everything around you. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s a lot of arcade fun to take for a spin.

Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold offers plenty of content without taking itself too seriously, and the mix of quirky humour and looty goodness is delightful. Although the story could have been more captivating, I still enjoyed every second.

Darksiders Genesis is a wildly different game to Darksiders I and II, and is nowhere near as competent with its design. It is, however, a hell of a lot of fun, with the inclusion of co-op being a standout feature. Paying £350 for the Nephilim Edition is a massive stretch, though.

It’s not going to set the world alight, but a well-developed combat system, some so-bad-it’s-good dialogue, and overall thoughtful optimisation options deliver a welcome surprise in this modest, enjoyable RPG.

FoxyLand 2 is clearly an improvement over the original, albeit with much more difficulty. With forty levels of short length, it’s quite feasible to tackle the whole thing in two or three sittings, but the platforming is good, and feels more fair than it did the first time.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf offers decent strategy gameplay for those fans looking for something as similar to XCOM as possible. However, lacking tutorials, weak story, and watered-down mechanics make Space Wolf feel like XCOM-lite with cards.
