I have played all three PS2 baseball games and TP is by far the most entertaining in terms of scoring a lot of runs, racking up a lot of strikeouts, and looking at eye candy. To hold TP to a simulation-standard would be putting it in the wrong genre.

The new game modes are fun to play. However, the repackaged graphics and sound just don't improve significantly over last year's version. In some respects they are worse.

Essentially what I expected it to be, which is to say, a $30 "patch" for the dismal "TW2K."

Despite a few nice features in Rivals (crowd noise, online play, and decent neutral zone play to name a few), overall the game falls flat. It's hard to get excited about this game knowing there are much better hockey simulations on the market.

It will mostly appeal to hardcore fans of snowboarding and those who enjoyed the first version...it is the most realistic snowboarding game currently available for the PS2.

What I get out of this game is just a fun time. I have this thing about freedom in a game and I would be happy with just the free roam mode this title offers.

This is the best yet in the series. The addition of licensed cars, more rivals and highways, and a few new gameplay twists make this one fine racer.

    This game flat-out sucked.

The AI is weak, scoring is plentiful on both sides of the ball, and there is little strategy involved. Enjoying the game is made even more difficult by sloppy controls.
    • 62 Metascore
    • 42 Critic Score
The AI is rudimentary; CPU teams don't shoot the ball when open on the perimeter, show no evidence of a post-up game, and generally run around like headless chickens.

It serves as an adequate time killer (i.e., rental game), even if the gameplay is painfully uninspired and repetitious. Then again, fans of button mashers probably wouldn't have it any other way.

I am anxious to see next year's version. 989 Sports in general is becoming more respectable - I don't know if they got new designers or more budget or what, but the quality of product is looking up.

Definitely a quick fix and will leave you feeling empty after just a few tournaments.

Short, and I mean really short gameplay. With only seven events, the party's over before it even gets started.

Not a huge improvement over "Championship Surfer," but it is certainly much better than the PS2's other surfing game, the horrid "Surfing H30."

After playing GD 2003, I won't think of the series as a laughingstock anymore. The game has earned my respect, but it still has a while to go.

For overall quality, it's stuck somewhere between a rock (a solid "NBA 2K2" title) and a hard place (the underachieving "NBA Live 2002").

This is basic no-frills baseball. The presentation is filled with mediocrity and the lack of a franchise mode and decent AI just kills the game's entertainment value. It's the NFL Fever of baseball titles - a shallow baseball game.

The close camera makes the game less of a sim in that passing is hit or miss. The AI tends to show hints of brilliance followed by complete idiocy.

The game is just boring sometimes and has a couple of ball physics and audio problems that prevent it from being one of the elite golf N64 games on the market.

Unless you have an extreme fascination with the X Games or worship the switch-stance prodigy Bob Burnquist, you should save your $50 and wait for Mr. Hawk's forthcoming 128-bit appearance.

It's purely an arcade experience but it's incredibly fun and I was really impressed with Vicarious Visions' track designs.

Someone needs to put 989 Sports out of their misery. NCAA Gamebreaker goes against all that is good. It teaches people to accept inferior products on supposedly superior systems.

Although the gameplay leaves much for my appetite, the rest of the game is solid. If the gameplay can be improved A LOT for next year, we might be looking at the best college basketball game on the market.

Despite a year off last year, Faceoff 2003 hasn't improved enough to stay with the competition.

The game is easy to beat and short in replay value. This is one disappointing effort.

My suggestion from here on out is that every time you see a 989 sports title sitting on the shelf, whether it's at Best Buy, EB, or even Blockbuster just pretend it's not there.

Until 989 wakes up and smells the coffee and they will continue to dwindle in mediocrity and play second fiddle to Sega Sports and EA.

While I thought NFL GameDay made some strides against the NFL competition, I don't think GameBreaker holds a candle to "NCAA."
