It serves as an adequate time killer (i.e., rental game), even if the gameplay is painfully uninspired and repetitious. Then again, fans of button mashers probably wouldn't have it any other way.

Despite a few nice features in Rivals (crowd noise, online play, and decent neutral zone play to name a few), overall the game falls flat. It's hard to get excited about this game knowing there are much better hockey simulations on the market.

I'm vastly disappointed with this game. I clearly remember being excited about last year's potential for the future. I thought 989 Sports would finally come through with a top-notch college basketball game, something that I don't believe has ever been done.

Last year, I gave Gameday a 67. I feel this year's game is better on many fronts, but there are still glaring issues with the gameplay and GM mode. Once those flaws get ironed out, the potential to become a third fiddle in the football gaming symphony is good.

While FMX is competent, its Career mode lacks magic and its racing and freestyle components do not outshine those of other motocross titles.

The AI flaws and problems with vehicle control bring the title down. The career mode is an interesting but not enough to maintain the title.

The excellent legacy mode is already there, so the game is just a few gameplay tweaks away from greatness.

After playing GD 2003, I won't think of the series as a laughingstock anymore. The game has earned my respect, but it still has a while to go.

If it weren't for the remarkable performance of the play-by-play duo this score would be much lower. If you can somehow master the entire manual switching and controlling, Slugfest might be a fun game. I just can't get over how frustrating the game was.

Hardcore racing fans might get a kick out of it, but the rest of the crowd would get content just beating it over a couple day rental.

The close camera makes the game less of a sim in that passing is hit or miss. The AI tends to show hints of brilliance followed by complete idiocy.

I have played all three PS2 baseball games and TP is by far the most entertaining in terms of scoring a lot of runs, racking up a lot of strikeouts, and looking at eye candy. To hold TP to a simulation-standard would be putting it in the wrong genre.

For overall quality, it's stuck somewhere between a rock (a solid "NBA 2K2" title) and a hard place (the underachieving "NBA Live 2002").

A new, non-Fifa (i.e. non-totally crap) soccer experience for North American soccer fans and, as I said before, it's not a horrible game - on the lower difficulty levels it's reasonably fun and it also has a ton of teams and competitions.

Multiplayer is a bit more enjoyable than just playing the game yourself since you don't have to deal with the moronic AI.

The stereotypical supermodel would be a good way to describe this title. The first few moments spent with Wreckless will really impress, but once you start investigating a little you'll notice a lack of substance.

There is nothing really good about this game except for the ability to wrestle with your favorite old-timers, as boring as that experience may be.

Too many quirks in the AI to be considered an accurate simulation of basketball. However, NBA Live 2002 does give you an enjoyable multiplayer game with friends.

Fifa 2002 certainly isn’t as bad as last year’s version, but when push comes to illegal slide tackle, it’s not a great deal better and still doesn’t even come close to "ISS PE1" let alone "ISSPE2" in terms of realism, depth, and fun-factor, and both of those games are for the PSOne!

If you liked Fifa 2001 then I'm sure you'll like this year's incarnation; however, those who've found the Fifa series disappointing in recent times should steer well clear.

Not a huge improvement over "Championship Surfer," but it is certainly much better than the PS2's other surfing game, the horrid "Surfing H30."

It really is a shame that Midway and Black Box included such blatant computer assist since it ruins the longevity of what would otherwise be a solid game.

NHN isn't terrible, but it isn't close to being a great game either. Casual hockey fans shouldn't bother with National Hockey Night, and for the hardcore hockey fan this game is a rental at best.

The two-handed boxing controls give gamers unprecedented freedom. And while most of the game modes are easy, the Career Mode is no pushover.

A bad frame-rate, severely choppy animation, and a hard-to-spot aiming cursor are just a few things that seriously hinder Power Spike's promising but flawed gameplay.

The new game modes are fun to play. However, the repackaged graphics and sound just don't improve significantly over last year's version. In some respects they are worse.

With all the extra power of the PS2, all EA could do was add two more cars to the field. The 20 cars race in a pseudo-sim. This leaves arcade and sim racing fans alike scratching their heads.

I had a lot more fun with the PSX version of Fifa 2001. Sure, it's also an arcade experience, but the passes don't move as fast, the tackles aren't as vicious and there isn't the useless shoot bar. Fifa 2001 PC is a huge disappointment and it's time the Fifa series got a major overhaul.

While Shootout 2001 is not a bad game, it's not as good as "Live 2001" for the PSX.

Definitely a quick fix and will leave you feeling empty after just a few tournaments.

If you are looking for a football game that will entertain you for the long run, NFL Blitz is not a good choice, especially with games like "Madden 2001" out there.

It's purely an arcade experience but it's incredibly fun and I was really impressed with Vicarious Visions' track designs.

For me, I will stick with "Madden." "Gameday 2001" is still stuck in training camp.

This game could be worth a rental though as by the time the rental is up, you will probably have gotten all you can from the game.

The game is just boring sometimes and has a couple of ball physics and audio problems that prevent it from being one of the elite golf N64 games on the market.

Well below average when compared to other all-text sports games. The interface is too multilateral, while there is a feeling that you have little impact on the simulated games.
