Poor design, sub-par visuals, and dull audio mean that you should dribble right around this release. It’s honestly a bit of a kick in the balls.

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD's smaller, less complex objectives feel unsurprisingly tailored to a handheld device, but that doesn't stop this from being a decent romp on the PS3 – especially if you snuck past the portable release. The original title's flaws still remain, however, and to top it off, Aveline's story is hampered by some worryingly poor technical performance.

Don’t Starve may make your stomach rumble in frustration if you’re not willing to invest the required time to master its complex systems, but triumph over its crushing difficulty, and you may find a satisfactory dish here.

Like a fiery feast, the experience can be punishing at times – but the overall feeling of reward when you succeed far outweighs the fleeting sting of a lost item or two.

King Oddball Ends the World won’t dethrone the avian king of the flinging genre anytime soon, but it’s a surprisingly addictive and oddly compelling experience all the same. With a disappointing lack of variety to its stages overcome by rock solid core mechanics, you’ll be hard pressed to find a bite-sized game that offers much more enjoyment than this for the same money.

Backgammon Blitz isn’t going to steal away any Game of the Year awards, but it’s a faithful recreation of a quintessential board game that should prove enjoyable to newcomers and enthusiasts alike.

Aabs Animals doesn't do anything fundamentally wrong – in fact, it excels in everything that it actually sets out to achieve. Clearly, the limited interactivity and twee subject matter are going to make it an incredibly niche release – but staring at a floating three-dimensional kitten may just be the tonic that your life sorely needs.

Robot Rescue Revolution is functionally fine, but it’s not much fun. Repetitive gameplay mechanics, a messy art style, and a general lack of ambition make it difficult to recommend. There are glimmers of hope in the level editor, audio, and online leaderboards, but you’re still better off pulling the plug on this circuit board of mechanical misery.

Minecraft's arrival on the PS3 is exactly what you may have expected, as this is still the same addictive, quirky, and humorous title that's been available on the PC for years.

After its enjoyable outings on previous platforms, Zen Pinball 2 has arrived on the PS4 in good form. Assuming that you can get past the inflexible purchasing options and cut through the sometimes overwhelming digital gloss, you’ll find a flipping fun game with an addictive core at its steel-coated centre.

Poor campaign pacing, occasionally clunky controls, and a general lack of atmosphere spill sticky liquid all over this release’s sometimes gorgeous graphics.

It doesn’t make as much use of the PS4’s added horsepower as it probably should, but if you missed out on the original – or really enjoyed the title first time around – then this will prove a heroic addition to your new console’s collection.

Granted, the game doesn’t do much to take advantage of the PS4’s supercharged hardware – but when the core action’s this fun, we’re not even sure that the Hulk would be able to get angry about that.

While it presents itself as a racing game, the title's real heart lies in its details. It's a game that makes good on the promise of its PS3 predecessor, and restores a soul and energy to the series that has been missing of late.

There is a satisfaction to be found in A-Men 2’s tense tactical puzzles, but the relentless difficulty will destroy your will to replay. This is a game designed for masochists, and while there will be a specific demographic that will undoubtedly enjoy the stiff challenge, mere mortals will just not have the stomach for it.

A simple but ultimately enjoyable brawler, Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers is a good attempt at turning an anime license into a solid video game. Fans should enjoy the title's retelling of the source material, while newcomers will find the combat system refreshingly accessible.

More of an interactive experience, flOw won’t float everyone’s boat, but if you can overlook its shortcomings and immerse yourself in its world, then you’ll be able to see why this indie hit rose to the surface when so many others sank without a trace.

Rainbow Moon is a memorable game. Its compelling RPG elements and careful attention to detail will leave you wanting more – despite its already extraordinary length. Beautiful landscapes, enjoyable music, epic battles, and endless customisation ensure that this release remains a joy for many, many hours. It also happens to be a perfect match for the Vita, and a great travel companion.
