Battling chickens and penguins is a lot of fun. The only problem with it is that it is too easy. That and the overall lack of originality make for a mediocre game that does not stand out among its contemporaries.

Even though it's fun to return to New Marais and battle vampires as the now extra powerful Cole McGrath, Festival of Blood feels to much like a last-minute afterthought to inFamous 2 to receive a higher score. Still, inFamous fans should not hesitate to buy this.

A great, though short story about our friendly neighbourhood superhero is undermined by uninspired and repetitive gameplay elements. It feels like a disappointing expansion to last year's Shattered Dimensions and that is not meant as a compliment.

Is this the perfect sequel? Yes. Rocksteady takes the core experience from the already fantastic Batman: Arkham Asylum and expands on it in every imaginable way. This is how every superhero game should be. Action game of the year!

Rochard is a fun game, though it is hardly a surprising one. Developer Recoil Games mostly plays it safe and manages to deliver a game that is both accessible and confusing at the same time. The graphics are fine, but the real fun lays in John 'Duke Nukem' St. John's voice acting.

Crysis is still a fantastisch First Person Shooter, but it starts to show its age. The disappointing enemy AI, the sometimes problematic framerate and the amount of pop-up make for a game that doesn't score quite as high on console as it did on PC.

Burnout: Crash presents a radical change in both style and gameplay for the franchise, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. It's fun, accessible and incredibly addictive, even though the controls aren't always as responsive as they should be.

The king is back! This latest iteration of the popular NBA 2K franchise improves on its predecessor in almost every way and is therefore undoubtedly the best basketball game so far.

The first Ace Combat game on the PlayStation 3 does not disappoint. On the contrary, Namco Bandai delivers an incredibly satisfying game with an engaging storyline, a lot of variation and most of all: a huge amount of equally spectacular and accessible dogfights.

Words almost can't describe a game that nears perfection. And that is exactly what Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception does.

Originality is the hallmark of a great game and while Eufloria has its flaws – it's rather repetitive due to a lack of variation – it more than makes up for it with its unique premise and ditto execution.

If not for the amount of bugs, the slightly disappointing graphics and the lack of a truly interesting story, this would have been the perfect sequel to 2009's frustratingly hard Demon's Souls. It's still a fantastic experience though... if you're up for it.

As far as the gameplay goes, X-Men Destiny works just fine. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about many of the other aspects of the game: a sweet, though way too short story, hideous graphics and an uninspired sound.

Rage is an amazing game, but we can't help but feel that it doesn't reach its full potential. While the shooting and the racing often works brilliantly, a rather weak story, repetitive missions and a lot of graphical errors ultimately make for a disappointing game.

While the 2012 iteration of the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise is definitely better than its predecessors, it won't even get close to EA's contemporary FIFA masterpiece. The main reasons are the hideously bad AI, the ancient game modes and yet again the lack of proper licensing.

If not for the often failing SIXAXIS controls, this would have been the perfect puzzle experience. Simple, yet challenging gameplay complemented by a great visual style and ditto soundtrack make Mercury Hg a continuation of form for Archer MacLean.

Oh sweet originality, how I have missed you. Children of Eden's unique style and exciting gameplay make for a fantastic, spacing experience. The short length and the lack of multiplayer options are the only downsides to an otherwise fantastic game.

Explosions, explosions, explosions… You either love them or hate them. If you belong to the first category, than this is your game. If not, well, then you're better off elsewhere.

Bloodrayne goes 2D and does this with quite a lot of ambition. Therefore it is all the more saddening to see that imprecise controls and a lackluster story keep the bloodsucking heroine from reaching perfection.

This incredibly addictive, though often frustrating game is at its best when you're playing with friends. Which makes the absence of an online multiplayer mode all the more surprising.

EA proves yet again that FIFA is the best football game series. This year's installment tops the previous one with an new physics engine, improved defensive mechanics and a more elaborate career mode. Kudos!

Although F1 2011 is visually rather underwhelming and suffers from excruciatingly long loading times, this is still the best F1 game yet.

Being God is always fun, period! Challenging gameplay and a unique atmosphere make for a very addicting experience, but control issues and plain stupid AI keep it from reaching the absolute top in the genre.

Fun for a while – especially when playing with a friend – but way too repetitive for the long run.

It's a shame Dead Island does not live up to the hype. Granted, the game is a lot of fun and Banoi makes for an entertaining and extremely atmospheric playground, but a lack of story and a lack of depth keep it from becoming an instant classic.

Even though NFL 12 doesn't exactly outclass its predecessor, It's still better than NFL 11. Improved drafting and the new collision system are fine additions to the NFL legacy, but some more changes would have been nice.

A lack of invention when compared to the previous game and an overdose of chaos make for a disappointing entry in the series. Deathspank: The Baconing is fun for a while, but you won't remember it for long.

EA does it again and overthrows its previous masterpiece by crafting an even greater ice hockey experience. It's not perfect, though: the Be A Legend mode, unlike the rest of the game, does not yet reach its full potential.
