No, it won't be to everyone's tastes, but if you're a fan of board games then there's definitely a lot to love here. And if you're a fan of baseball you might understand some of the things the game says to you. Either way there's a good deal of fun to suck out of Bottom of the 9th. Don't write it off if you don't fit into both, or either of the camps, it's designed for. Just go with it, and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Skip buying your kid FIFA on 3DS this year, and give your offpsring Inazuma Eleven 3 instead. It's a novel light RPG experience, with all the compulsive collecting of a sticker album. There's also a decent football story at its core.

Thumper doesn't work quite so well on Switch as it does on VR, but it's still worth a look if you can't get the other version.

Sadly, some slight technical issues do mar the experience. The visuals are too blurry, it's not as smooth as it could be, and the HD rumble issue needs to be ironed out ASAP. Look past these issues, and you'll discover a unique and charming puzzle platformer that manages to serve as a love letter to 3D adventures of yore.

Hardcore devotees of Irem's legendary shooter series may balk at the methodical gameplay but R-Type Tactics ranks as an intelligent and entertaining extension of the R-Type universe.

The time you spend with Miles and Kilo is bags of fun though, with the characters bouncing humorous dialogue around that often breaks the fourth wall. Yes, it's a familiar blanket that punches, but it's one that impresses with texture, too.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is exactly that: a sequel to the original. New levels and new abilities will keep fans pleased, but there's little in the way of creative spark to be found here.

Disney Mirrorverse is an action RPG featuring real-time combat and a cast of beloved Disney and Pixar characters. It can be a bit of a challenge for free-to-play players to score more than 3-star heroes, but the creative character designs make each Guardian a joy to play on the battlefield regardless of rarity.

Square Valley is a city-building puzzle game with randomly generated elements, lovely visuals and relaxing background music. It might take a while for you to get a hang of the lengthy tile descriptions of the portrait game, but it's a great way to pass the time and indulge in a little brain training while you're at it.
