Ford and Land Rover licenses serve no discernible purpose here - the cars are devoid of detail and although the acceleration and cornering depend on mass and power, one would expect far more variety in handling. But when the bulky SUV hits a patch of reeds and suddenly stops, everything becomes crystal clear. It's just another repackaged budget racer. [June 2008]

The Heroes of Might and Magic series has traveled far away since its famed third installment and not always in the right direction. This return to the roots of the genre might help it get back in shape. There's a lot of heroics to be done fighting monsters, questing and gathering treasure, albeit the adventures are stretched too thin at places. While King's Bounty does bring back memories, at times it's about as exciting as napping by the fireplace. [Oct 2008]

This unique knight simulator is extremely immersive and playable despite having some minor if irritating glitches. Where else could I plan my own war campaigns or rebel and found an independent kingdom? [Dec 2008]

New, enhanced, stronger, able to jump the tallest building... or at least smash through two long, juicy adventures. This is how The Witcher should look like from the beginning. The loading times are entirely acceptable, the graphic has a new look and we get the editor on top of the deal. What's not to like? [Oct 2008]

Everything that annoyed the hell out of me in the first edition has been fixed. The new story predating the original is much better presented and more coherent. Spectacular lightning effects are just the icing on a cake, which is a boon, because turning them off boosts the framerate considerably. [Oct 2008]

How to design a game that spans from swimming in a drop of water to ruling the galaxy? Will Wright knows how: as simple as possible. Spore deserves success on "The Sims" scale. [Sept 2008]

The game deserves all accolades for its chillingly realistic depiction of the world in the struggles of a bloody global war. But the spectacular explosions can't cover up the fact that the graphics looks equally bleak as the near future presented here and the gameplay is too simple and repetitive. [Oct 2008]

There is no chance to be bored, some missions have surprisingly innovative setup (the surprise is not always a pleasant one though). All in all, a model add-on despite its flaws and unfixed glitches it shares with the basic game. [July 2008]

The life of the sims and their careers become even simpler to manage, hard as it might be to imagine, with the addition of new instant friend-making combos and... magic. That’s the farewell gift from the team - next expansion is inevitably expected somewhere in 2009, but for "The Sims 3."

Welcome to one of the most boring artistic endeavours of our age. The murder mystery on a sinking island is solved by talking, looking and walking - mostly by walking. The island with all the clues and evidence will vanish under the waves in just seven hours, but for our bummy detective hero that's no reason to hurry. So he strolls endlessly through empty locations, and with just the pretty pictures to cheer you up, it's hard not to get bored to death on this Island of doctor Boreau. [Apr 2008]

Neither fish nor fowl, this game fails on both counts, with character development not deep enough for a roleplayer and controls too clumsy for an action gamer. The presentation is at times truly stunning, but the dumbing down went too far. [Oct 2008]

It's just a hack'n'slash done (more or less) right, like Loki, Dungeon Siege, Titan Quest or grandpa Diablo. Nothing more, nothing less and it wouldn't be memorable at all, were it not for the cheeky cursor - a tiny winged lady sprite who offers helpful hints and abrasive but to the point commentary of our doings. Budget titles have some rules too. Unfortunately the makers of Conspiracy Island know all the bad ones - clichéd plot and characters, wooden animation, prefabricated levels - and just one good: lots of action! [Oct 2008]

Excellent and demanding slasher with beautiful visuals and wondrous heroes. Capcom did finally get its act together and the PC version no longer is just a pale specter of its console original. There is so many fighting moves that most gamers will probably never discover all of them. [Aug 2008]

A horror that isn't scary? Fail. Awkward controls are tiring, gameplay is shockingly plain. There is a lot of new concepts, but technical deficiencies take out the fun from this game. For example the fires are amazing, but fireproof wood does the whole idea in. [Aug 2008]

Fat, funny animated movie hero and a computer game license - a combination that spells disaster. Not this time though. It's one of the best movie games, on par with Cars, joining the ironic humor with enthralling (if easy) fights. [Aug 2008]

It's not a game for everyone. Not all enjoy spending upwards to 70% of game time talking to the NPC's. The combat system has its faults as does the AI, the new items look just like the old ones, and graphics, while pretty, is not spectacular. But I had a great time with this SF story written with a lot of vigor, creativity and depth. [July 2008]

The fights in this adventure are quite rewarding, but the best part are the hilarious dialogues, biting humor and absurd jokes. With axe and bloody sweat this game stakes its territory on the MMOG map. Not to mention meaty thuds and fountains of gore after certain critical hits. Hopefully the new quests keep coming, especially for the high level characters, as the gameplay becomes progressively simple the farther you get into the game. [Sept 2008]
