Probably the best or at least the most entertaining "Diablo" clone out there at the moment. While Titan Quest looks great, it does not quite reach the sophistication and richness of Diablo II. The multiplayer mode could have used a lot more work. [Sept 2006]

An interesting take on fantasy in modern surroundings. The old Silent Storm engine works great once again, but the game is a bit too streamlined and simple. Good fun for one play-through, nonetheless. [Sept 2006]

Plays basically just like the previous games. The simulation mode is the heart of the game, although it is very difficult to master. Best of the series so far. [July 05]

A game that had it all, great design, excellent graphics. All it lacked was time. [Aug 2006, p.36]

A traditional point 'n click adventure full of atmosphere and intriguing puzzles. The interface is a bit old-fashioned and cumbersome, and the game has a few dull moments. Nice plot saves a lot. [Aug 2006, p.59]

The classic shoot 'em up series has aged well. It is still fun to play and perfect for portable gaming. [Oct 2006]

A Grand Theft Auto III Remix. A bit pointless on PS2, then. [Aug 2006, p.32]

An easy racing game for children. It has minor graphic problems and a much too easy story mode, but the soundtrack is awesome. [Oct 2006]

Dropteam gets better and better with every patch. The game offers a strong, realistic vision of war in the future, but has one minor problem. It is mainly geared for multiplayer action with only a few players in the USA. Dropteam needs a strong single player campaign to escape Planet Niche. Do not waste a game this good only to multiplayer! [Sept 2006]

Not surprisingly, it's great. I want more and I want it soon. Small cause of concern is the plot that advances only in baby steps. [Aug 2006, p.54]

Hitman: Blood Money is the turbocharged, ultra-sophisticated version of the previous Hitmans. As such, I liked it a lot, but at the same time there was the feeling that I have now murdered everyone there is to murder. Next time, something radically new is needed. [June 2006]

A decent add-on, but lacks the drive that made the original game so good. The graphics are still great. [May 2006]

An enjoyable, light simulator. The plane selection (with NATO Fighters mods) makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. I just wish the AI was more challenging and that the multiplayer features were better. I also would not mind having proper labels for improved situational awareness. [Dec 2006]

Heroes of Might and Magic V is like meeting an old friend. There is not really that much new if you have played the earlier games, but who cares when the new version is both addictive and beautiful to watch. [June 2006]

Advance Wars for PSP. Luckily there are also new ideas, like stackable units, mines and destructible forest. Too bad it is only for two players. [Sept 2006]

A technically sound, if a bit too easy and short action-adventure. The three significantly different heroes are a nice touch. But why buy the movie licence, if the game has little to do with the movie? [June 2006]

A decent adventure with interesting themes and puzzles. Too bad the combat and stealth sections are not up to par. Choosing the easiest battle difficulty lets the puzzles take the centre stage – as they should. [June 2006]

Old school 2D works just as well as it did 15 years ago. The difficulty level is set too low, but even if you rush through the game, there is still loads to explore afterwards. [Aug 2006, p.50]

The second game from Big Huge Game designer Brian Reynolds takes careful steps to renew real-time strategy gaming, but does not dare step far enough. The game is beautiful and has lots of great ideas, but lacks in feeling, mostly due to bad sound effects. [June 2006]

A great concept, but lacks in execution. Less generic fantasy clichés, more variety to the RTS part and character development, and it would have been more than just a nice game. [June 2006]

Desperados 2: Cooper’s Revenge continues on its predecessor’s path. The gameplay, graphics and characters are great. Add to that the Morricone-like music and you have a Wild West addict’s dream. Still, the game falls short of masterpiece status, because of too much frustrating sneaking, some graphics bugs and the occasionally stupid AI. [June 2006]

Guild Wars: Factions expands the original game with a new, fresh-looking Oriental-style campaign and new play modes for PvP. Its greatest asset is still the lack of monthly fees, but it is also a good MMORPG with lots of PvP content and a fantastic skill system. [June 2006]

Thanks to PC controls, shooting is no longer a source of constant irritation and the game can really shine. CoC in an excellent horror adventure. Fear and loss of sanity can really be seen and felt. The game is faithful to Cthulhu mythos, full of memorable scenes and has the only ending there can be. [Apr 2006]

Innovative features together with realism and playability make it a must-have for American Civil War enthusiasts and recommendable to all tactical-scale wargamers. The lack of strategic elements is a bit disappointing, though. [Aug 2006, p.55]

A decent flight shoot 'em up that tries hard to look like a simulator. The flying is too easy for its own good and the enemy AI is too repetitive. More sci-fi missions would not have hurt, either. [Sept 2006]
