One issue that pops up early is the game's rather inept AI. Enemies just do not have the kind of intelligence or cleverness the first game had. Combine soldiers do little to evade your fire, preferring to just stand there shooting at you.- PC Gameworld

My only real complaint is that upon completion of a task, villagers will just stand around doing nothing. This can lead to some annoying micro-management tactics...Problems aside, Age of Empires is one of the most enjoyable and addictive real-time strategy games I’ve ever played.- PC Gameworld
