There is fun to be had here, but by being unable to connect past distinguishing features and moderns sensibilites, SOCOM: Special Forces is unable to do enough to stand out of the crowd.

The Sims 3 is an adequate port for the 3DS, but in the end fails to capture the addictive fun and charm of its original counterpart.

Moon Diver isn't the next big thing in the 2D action platform genre, nor is it Square Enix's new instant classic. It does have some good ideas, but lazy design decisions and the repetitive stages do bring it down a few notches.

The single-player campaign doubles the length of the original, and is crammed with even more hilarity and devious puzzles than ever before, as well as extending the concept with the introduction of larger environments and new mechanics like the gels. The co-op is amazingly fun, and while the story is less complex, the gameplay is even more concentrated insanity than the single player.

Swarm really has a killer one-two punch with its combination of engaging and unique gameplay and whimsical presentation style.

Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is charming to behold but ultimately bland to play. Its workmanlike design emphasises repetition over imagination, quantity over quality, and form over substance.

Rush'n Attack: Ex-Patriot is a brilliant example of how not to reboot an old franchise.

It may not be anything particularly extraordinary or hardcore, but Starnia is an entertaining shooting package that succeeds at providing a uniquely fresh shooting experience. It offers an interesting mix of traditional shmup conventions and modern game design innovations.

Shogun 2: Total War is a great addition to the Total War series, and is definitely one to pick up if you're a fan of Sengoku-era games, or have the slightest interest in RTS titles.

Much better than a lot of other Ubisoft launch offerings for the 3DS, Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is a great title if you're looking for a lengthy strategy game with nice mechanics.

It doesn't use the 3DS's technology too well and the price is steep given the features of the package, but underneath that, Rayman 3D is still a fun little platformer, if somewhat dated.

One of the better launch titles for the 3DS, Ridge Racer 3D delivers a boatload of content, solid arcade gameplay and great 3D effects.

Rabbids 3D is probably the most average platformer we've ever played, and the 3D effect is entirely superfluous.

More content and substance would have made for a better package, but it's hard to deny the polish and potential for addiction that exists regardless.

Rango is a highly recommended game on the Nintendo DS if you're interested in masochism or sleep.

WWE All Stars is easily the most entertaining wrestling video game to come out in years. What it lacks in content is more than compensated by its superb play mechanics.

PlayStation Move Heroes works well enough, but it's too short, too easy and too shallow to warrant the attention that you would have expected from of the most recognisable Sony icons.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters definitely uses the iconic tournament as an advantage and is a great golf game. But it needs more tangible reward and polish, with less fluff and gratuity.

Take the Super Street Fighter IV package and stick it on a handheld. They said they were crazy. We say they're brilliant.

The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile goes straight for the jugular, rips out the voice box and releases a deafening roar. Why? Because it can, and because it's awesome.

The lack of actual Dreamcast versions, the utterly pointless inclusion of Sega Bass Fishing, the nonexistent nostalgic extras and the lack of effort in presentation all make Dreamcast Collection an unfaithful representation of the glorious Dreamcast era.

If you play Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, you will be haunted with a dull presentation combined with ordinary gameplay with no differentiation whatsoever.

A bad port of a great game. It should never have been shoved onto the 3DS and it doesn't come close to the quality of the original Chaos Theory.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together sets the bar for what a good remake should be and certainly cements itself as one of the best isometric strategy role-playing games around.

There's a great deal of technical power and content in this little disc and fans of the original will love it, but the true potential of Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy remains untapped.

While Yakuza 4 doesn't really feel like a huge improvement on the formula, it tells a great story just the same.

Shift 2: Unleashed doesn't offer the experience that so much of the preview footage was based on. That being said, it's still a great racing game.

Yoostar 2 is a fun idea and is certainly something that's best played with friends, but its technical limitations do spoil the rather short-lived experience. Best saved for a rental on a rainy day.
