It's quite basic, but 5-in-1 Mahjong's 300 tile arrangements make this the best budget buy in the genre so far for DSiWare, even if the titular extra modes are a mixed bag.

Capcom has somehow been able to miraculously squeeze every bit of bone-crushing fighting action onto the portable screen of the 3DS and still managed to toss in a staggering number of added features and options to go along with it. Even losing a few frames of character and background animations is a small price to pay for the stunning 3D visuals.

Namco Bandai has played it very safe with its 3DS debut, picking an established series and creating a game which feels like a celebration of previous efforts rather than an entirely new chapter.

Heavy Fire: Black Arms is smack-dab in the lowest tier of the rail-shooter ladder, failing to offer anything of interest besides its attractive price.

If you own an iOS device, there's no point in downloading this version of the game - you'd be paying significantly more money for less content. All else considered, though, this is still DSiWare done right: fun, pick-up-and play-style gameplay with a variety of options and tons of replay value.

Earth Saver might not be as flashy as some of the other DSiWare puzzlers we've seen, but that doesn't stop it from delivering a fun and inventive challenge.

It is a shame that Rango on the Wii cuts corners and, worst of all, is over all too quickly.

The difficulty, in most cases, leans towards the easy side in order to keep things accessible for younger players. If you fall into one of the audience categories mentioned then this may be worth consideration. If you don't, the low difficulty, awful music and premium price tag are all factors to bear in mind.

The Sims 3 provides the first open-world experience in the series for a Nintendo handheld, and does quite a good job of it, with enough options, subtlety, neighbours and mini-objectives that there's always something interesting to do. However, the content is limited to a somewhat narrow framework, and overall it's not immersive enough to provide anything much more complex than the original PC game.

Black and White are certainly up there with the best of the series: unlike HeartGold and SoulSilver they don't have nostalgia as their main attraction, but they come closest to recreating the sense of discovery felt when embarking on that first journey with Pokémon.

BIT.TRIP FLUX is a great example of how old-school video gaming can be every bit as relevant today as it was 30 years ago and provides the perfect ending to one of the most unique and engaging video game series ever created.

How much you enjoy it is bound to be determined by how tolerant you are of stuttering framerates and awkward design choices, but with these kinks ironed out, Arctic Escape would have been a universal recommendation.

The developers certainly had their hearts in the right place when they put Draft Circuit together, but something went terribly wrong along the way.

It's still hardly a must-have, even for the extended audience it's clearly aiming for, so is only recommended to those who absolutely have to have a fire on their TV.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation might not be as flashy or intricate as Dragon Quest IX was, but that certainly doesn't keep the game from being every bit as charming and engaging.

Treasure Hunter X is certainly not a horrible game by any stretch, but it's not exactly that good either. The game relies too heavily on gameplay touches that have already been done many times before, and in some cases far better.

Perfect for bored children in car journeys, but with a lifespan of just several hours, even the temptation of achieving all the high scores won't entice the more advanced players in the long run.

Over time, fans have slowly begun to run out of patience with Square-Enix and these series side-stories while they wait for a fully fledged sequel, and Re:coded does little to remedy that.

The worst failing of the game is its length and difficulty – these 12 levels will not last long. Again, young 'uns or fans will see through this, but for anyone else, it's not worth 1000 Points.

101 Dolphin Pets presents a relaxed, fun and extremely approachable casual pet simulator with simple, entertaining and progressively challenging mini-games that noticeably improve on its predecessor's oft-clunky, unimpressive selection.

While it doesn't really add a great deal to the overall story of the series and recycles a lot of content from the previous games, what you'll find is a very enjoyable experience, chocked full of content that will keep you glued to your DS for a long while.

Jam City Rollergirls is a pretty neat, if ultimately not too heavy video game introduction to roller derby, and if you have even a passing interest in the sport may serve you well. While it could ultimately benefit from more, more, more, the game still manages to punch out a good time.

While Mario Sports Mix may lack the depth of Mario Tennis and Golf, it's a great example of a more casual Mario title that multiple players can enjoy. Not all the disciplines on offer will be to everyone's taste, but there's enough good stuff here to last you a fair while and Square Enix have given it oodles of imagination.

The lack of achievements to strive for and levels to conquer and replay do limit this game's appeal for everyone apart from high-score chasers, but those who give it a chance are likely to enjoy whatever time they do choose to spend with it. That bargain pricetag doesn't hurt, either... we just wish it aimed a little higher.

It might not be the flashiest of the Texas Hold'em releases, but it's hands down the best executed one of the bunch.
