Had RE4 performed a little better in the scare department, and lost a few really annoying and frustrating moments, we would be talking about the best survival horror game around.

Although I relished my time in Fable 2 -- really, I did -- the half-baked marriage crap nearly killed the game for me.

And this is probably what I liked least about The Last Express. You often don't know what to do. Nobody is giving you any clearly defined quests (recover this, deliver that, kill this). I suppose that's part of the mystery, but I prefer slightly less mysterious games.

This game is throughly enjoyable and most adventurers, new and old, will savor the experience of meeting these new characters in what promises to be a quality series.

The music and voice acting are superb. I really liked Qara’s and Neeka’s voices. The performance was with a ton of attitude and personality.

It has been so long since we have had a comic adventure game that I think it is a relief to just have some fun and enjoy some ridiculous puzzles (and, might I add, puzzles that are purposely meant to be ridiculous).

The City That Dares Not Sleep is certainly the second best entry in Season 3 (The Tomb of Sammun-Mak remains the clear standout).

As for me, I had a surprisingly good time helping Maya struggle to bring all of the events back into the bosom of the benevolent gods. Tight story, excellent puzzles, attractive graphics -- what else could we grouchy adventure game players ask for?

A breath of nostalgic perfume for the point-and-click enthusiast. I was sorry when it was over, and I fervently hope that the Count finds a way to come back and haunt us for third time.

So far we have pleasing graphics, an easy interface, and unique puzzles... but what about the down side? The only issue I had was that the game occasionally got tedious, but this could simply be a result of being stuck for so long.

It’s not the “bees knees”s, and it’s not “all wet”, but it’s “keen;” good enough to keep you busy for a short period of time, and I’m sure some gamers will find something positive to say about some of the things I found negative. Case closed.

While some may say developer 2K Marin has let Bioshock 2 fall into the dreaded sophomore slump, I don’t necessarily think that’s true. It had to be unnerving to try to top such a runaway bestseller of a new property.

Players tired of lugging around AK-47s, Uzis and rocket launchers in the cookie-cutter shooter assembly line should hop into Garrett's shoes. It's a slower game, a deeper game, a more cerebral game. If another is released, which is probably too much to hope for, I'd steal it...ahem, I mean, buy it, in a heartbeat.

The atmosphere and surroundings surround the story perfectly, which unfolds in a way that would surely have earned Lady Agatha’s seal of approval. One feels that there could have been more gameplay-wise though - as well as several bugs and imperfections avoided.

About the only thing I'd knock crackers off Jolly's overall score for is its not quite top-drawer cartoon style.

While The Haunted Mansion can not be classified as a children’s game, it does have a genial, yet spooky feel about it and is easily accessible by both novice and veteran gamers.

It's unlikely to win any awards, but it is fun and satisfying to play.

Streko Graphics put great care into developing this little graphical gem and I feel that even with the frustrations I had with a few of its puzzles and the occasional cursor issue, I found Aura to be a thoroughly entertaining escape from the day to day humdrum of work and classes.

Frustration was heightened by incorporating diverse elements that did not mesh in a smooth manner.

Not only is it a wonderful effort, but it is also one of those rare games where the sequel is better than the original.

Nancy Drew fans will NOT be disappointed in this latest installment.

Though not long, I thought the game was of a satisfying length. The same is true of the difficulty. Not hard, but no walk in the park either.

The bottom line is that I was playing the game, enjoying the plot and the puzzles and occasionally thinking, “Wow, that was a funny line. So why aren't I laughing?” There is a Voice Director listed in the credits. Perhaps he can pull more out of the actor for the next episode.

Emerald City Confidential is in so many particulars a standout game. The concept, the story, the art, the acting, even the rather jazzy interface all get A's. But the puzzles. What a disappointment.

It’s not quite the best Nancy Drew game out there (I think that honor goes to "Curse of Blackmoor Manor"), but Danger by Design is just as fascinating as Minette, and far less frustrating. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Nancy Drew, and many who like adventure games.

Consistently good B to B+ material and an excellent excuse to subscribe to GameTap.
