From a visual and story point of view, the Layers of fear masterpiece edition is indeed a masterpiece, but it is a game, and sadly the entire gameplay side of things is extremely disappointing and turns what could have been a very impressive and cutting edge psychological horror title up there with the likes of Silent Hill, into nothing more than another boring and generic indie horror, so short that even the $30 its in the PlayStation store for is a stretch.

The World Ends with You Nintendo: Final Remix is an interesting old school experience on the Nintendo Switch that plays okay but is also lacking a little accuracy.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is an excellent port to an already incredible game. Unfortunately, we might need to track down the Dragon Balls to resurrect the already dwindling online community.

Whilst an admirable attempt at offering a fresh take on what is already becoming a fairly staid genre, Toadman Interactive has unfortunately missed the mark when it comes to one of the most crucial elements of making these games work.

FIFA 19 in a nutshell is a very good, sometimes great game that looks the part but suffers from a couple of maddening decisions that completely take you out of it.

Daybreak is a mindless horde mode expansion to State of Decay 2 that will only appeal to players seeking more outlets for zombie slaughtering co-op madness. There’s a serious lack of exciting new content or variety offered here that fails to capitalise on the areas of the main game that work best and could use expansion – such as story content, more community management mechanics or new maps – and what we’re left with is a monotonous combat-focused distraction that misses the mark for true replayability as intended.

Well… if you are quick to feel sick in VR then I’d just say stay well clear of Detached… you won’t get much use before you swap your headset for a bucket. If you have a hardier stomach and want some time to yourself in space… this might just be the thing for you. Keep an eye on sales and if there are any expansions for the best option.

Super Mario Party is, without doubt, the best entry in the series since the days of the GameCube. It’s stellar presentation, kooky sense of humour and fantastic mini-games make it for an exceptionally fun party game. Also in the game’s favour is that there is variation in the game mode’s hitherto unseen in a Mario Party. The game is plagued by a lacking amount of boards and a sometimes painfully slow pace but on the whole, there’s a fantastic multiplayer experience in there.

It’s great that Playground Games have not rested on their laurels but have created a game that not only looks amazing but more importantly plays well on the Xbox One/X. The gameplay mechanics work well and whether you’re playing this online or offline, there’s plenty to do and see. Given how much fun I’ve had with Forza Horizon 4, it will definitely become my go to game in the months to come, especially with its online component. So if you’re looking for some racing fun that packs a punch, Forza Horizon 4 is definitely that game!

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a huge leap forward for the series towards a deeper action role-playing experience. The sheer ambition and amount of content available in Ubisoft’s latest historical sandbox – quests, NPCs, side-activities, collectibles, historical landmarks, locations and secrets – is staggering, and it’s easy to get immersed in what is a truly spectacular open-world rendition of Ancient Greece, the Aegean Sea and its many different islands and warring states. This latest entry will especially resonate best if you enjoyed the different direction last year’s Origins took.

The Gardens Between is a real treat. Once its gorgeously creative and visually striking aesthetic design lures you in, you’ll be captivated by the inventive, satisfying gameplay. Then it won’t take long for you to begin building a connection with the characters thanks to the expressive, detailed animations and fantastic music score. If you’re looking for a short, relaxing, simplistic puzzle game that is nonetheless wholly satisfying, then The Gardens Between should not be missed.

Forsaken was just the pick me up Destiny 2 needed as it was falling quite sour of many loyal fans. I myself had taken a long break before Forsaken dragged me back. The story is great, the triumph system to track challenges is fun and paired with the lore system give players something to lookout and work towards completing even when there’s little else to do, having added so many more bounties, both daily and weekly to complete for that sweet sweet loot opens up the game for so many players who might only like to play certain modes or are more of a PVE player than PVP.

The Golf Club 2019 isn’t a perfect game, as it has it’s issues here and there, but it’s fun once you have the hang of the gameplay, especially when you play with friends. With 2K now producing the game series, it has great potential to become even better over the coming years,. Hopefully we’ll see some updates on the game’s visual issues, a slightly easier gameplay this game will be more inviting to everyone.

2K19 is a must buy game for all NBA fans. The MyCareer mode has been improved with all new additions and changes to the Neighborhood. The graphics have dramatically improved and the refined movement of players and the realistic aspect of the game is at an all-time high. 2K has again proved why they are the superior basketball game.

While State of Mind does follow pretty directly in the footsteps of prior cyberpunk stories and themes… it’s not always what is being told but how it’s being told that makes the difference… and State of Mind can draw you in and make you want to know what’s going on. If in doubt, wait for it to be on special… but if you want a less hectic gaming experience with a cinematic feel… State of Mind could be just what you are after.

Donut County is a strange, unique game, and I think it’s great. The gameplay is simple yet undeniably enjoyable. The visuals are cool, colourful and fun. Yet most impressive is the rather captivating story and characters that tie this whole thing together. Sure, the game might be a little too easy and really only takes a few hours to beat without much incentive for replayability (unless you’re interested in chasing achievements). But Donut County is easily one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played this year and I think everyone should check it out.

Overall I had a lot of fun with Phantom Doctrine… I’ve been a big fan of the X-Com games since enemy unknown and I thoroughly enjoyed Silent Storm. The Cold War, espionage theme of Phantom Doctrine helps to make it stand out a bit and is a great story line. If you like turn based strategy games I would highly recommend Phantom Doctrine… now excuse me I just have to jet to a (redacted) in (redacted) and talk to my handler.

I’m barely two races into my career mode and can’t even compete against people from all over the world to test my skills against I really can’t say/do much more. When the game works, it’s great, incomplete sure but great, but that’s just the problem, when it works. I’ll keep at it and hopefully more patches will bridge the gap in play-ability and maybe with a few little tweaks as well this game can return it is series’ former glory.

Divinity: Original Sin II – Definitive Edition is the best way for PC, PS4 and Xbox One players to experience Larian Studios’ masterpiece. The transition to consoles has been a smooth one, and PC players who own the original get rewarded with a free upgrade – meaning there’s no excuse to not jump into Rivellon for another playthrough. The Definitive Edition adds so much more content and quality-of-live improvements to an already great base game, it’s a must-play for isometric RPG aficionados everywhere who value a crazy amount of complexity, interactivity and replayability in their role-play.

The kitchen chaos of Overcooked 2 is a must do experience for any Nintendo Switch owner (and their friends). There are some nice upgrades from the original and the gameplay, varied kitchen design and change from level to level make it a truly fun and engaging experience. The difficulty is ever present, and there are some really rewarding experiences when you finally earn that 3rd star on some of the later levels. This game is best played on the couch with friends and it should be a part of everyones Nintendo Switch owners catalogue.
