The truth is that Rocket Arena is in a lot of trouble, because it doesn’t offer enough to warrant the price tag. The more concerning thing is that if it does indeed go free-to-play, it isn’t unique enough to lure people away from the plethora of other service games that are more established, more varied, and ultimately more fun. Rocket Arena may be worth a look for free, but otherwise, I’d suggest you stick to the games you’re excited about.

After the relatively disappointing launch titles for the PlayStation VR, there are a few games that will make you appreciate this new medium and thankfully one of those games is Eagle Flight. In the end, it successfully creates one of the best immersive experiences with its sturdy controls and beautiful graphics plus enjoyable gameplay. Recommended!

If you can break up the repetitive gameplay against spongy mini-bosses making up most of the game, there's fun action to be had with a great concept.

There are plenty of contenders for FPS game time these days and while some may try and add new features or unique gameplay dynamics, Metal Eden takes a look back at what made the classics great and basically just combines all the best features and bundles them into a beautifully realised sci fi world in a way that feels new but also familiar. A brilliant combination of the old and the new. Well worth grabbing and having a play for those of us “Boomers” and for the younger gamers alike.

If you thought the previous episode left you feeling that Bruce Wayne couldn’t get any lower or that Batman was on a path of destruction… just wait till you see the end of Episode 3… I won’t ruin anything but man does it set things up for an interesting Episode 4.

HoPiKo is challenging and moves at a lightning pace, although it can't escape the fact that it feels more like a game you'd play on your phone than on a console.

Wizardry Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlock is a fun walk down memory lane which successfully brings the original game in its entirety with updated graphics and slightly tweaked gameplay. Given that, this is not a remake of Wizardry but rather a remaster. Definitely for the gamer who is seeking that old school atmosphere without the old school graphics.

One Piece Odyssey is a straightforward RPG crusade with the infamous Straw Hat Pirates. While the game doesn't do anything excitingly new or impressive, this escapade is still a noteworthy adaptation of the admired adventures of Luffy on his search for the One Piece.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy - Enhanced Edition modernizes the classic series with upgraded lighting, textures, 3D models, and expanded modding support. Console optimization brings the trilogy to a new audience with multiple performance modes and improved visuals. However, uneven frame pacing, jarring audio levels, and dated mechanics like manual saving and stiff controls remind players this is still a product of its time; polished, but not fully modernized.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is a great game. A tough one for all those looking for a challenge. It is both a wholly new experience and a familiar one in the same breath. While a few minor bugs plagued me at times and the games’ difficulty throwing me for a few loops, Soulstorm is a solid experience. It’s a much more thought out experience, much closer to the original idea the team at Oddworld Inhabitants had for it way back in the early 90s. Whilst still retaining some of Exoddus’ flair and charm.

This ‘rogue-like’ gaming experience is rewarding for those who are fans of this methodical genre. It is slow, patient game, built on the acquisition of knowledge and resources to uncover the mysteries of the deep. It appeals to a certain type of gamer, one who embraces the challenge and has the patience to explore the lore which is waiting for you. The persistent darkness sets the scene of mystery and the ever-looming threat of perma-death has your every decisions loaded with implications.

The bottom line is that My Time at Portia balances out to be an enjoyable farming/life sim game as the dull writing and storyline is propped up by fun crafting and exploration mechanics. If you’re a fan of the genre for the interpersonal relationships and storylines, look elsewhere. However if the idea of exploring an adorable, colourful world and crafting an impressive array of neat stuff sounds appealing, then Portia is just a short boat ride away.

Overwatch is a rare case of a Switch port that works well mechanically, but is hard to justify a purchase. If you plan on playing on console, you’d best stick to PS4 or Xbox. Portable play is desirable, but it’s not always practical when you consider the internet requirement. This port is for a specific audience of Nintendo fans who’ve never played Overwatch and want to know what the big deal is. On the other hand, you can also consider this an all-in-one version of Overwatch. You get console play, handheld play, and motion controls that provide the accuracy of a PC. The value of this port rests on your own personal needs.

I’m a pretty big fan of RTS and certainly a big fan of RPG’s, I love being able to dig into a character and forge them the way I would like. Spellforce 3 does a good job of mashing those two genres together and the result is a pretty decent campaign that should have you entertained for quite some time. A little bit of this and a little bit of that, in just the right doses and you get a great game that stands above the sum of it’s parts.

NASCAR 25 is a very solid NASCAR game. I don’t think it’s going to sell anyone on the spectacle, as I said previously, you’ve got to be into turning left a lot, but this iRacing backed entry does a lot right and is the best NASCAR game in years outside of the events that iRacing put on themselves. There’s a thrill to pack racing at near 200mph on a banked oval that isn’t really replicated anywhere else, and NASCAR 25 does a great job of bringing that to life.

Birds of Steel is easily one of the best flight simulators for the PlayStation 3 that really takes the simulator genre to a whole new level on this console. It's easily one of the best looking flight sims around at the moment with the realistic planes and exceptional gameplay. With over 100 planes available in the game, a campaign mode, online player and even a mission creator, there's plenty of longevity to be found in this game.

The developers have done a great job in making this universe quite epic as you attempt to colourise this dull and dark universe. Sent there by a bad scientist, it's once again up to Mickey to save the universe and the game gives the player some power in how this will be done.

Sonic Superstars is not without its faults; the bosses sometimes overstay their welcome, and the multiplayer feels a little underbaked in places. However, Arzest has accomplished something many Sonic fans doubted could ever be done. Successfully create a modern 2D Sonic that not only retains the feel of the MegaDrive/ Genesis originals but builds upon them in meaningful and exciting ways, and I, for one, can’t wait to see where the blue blur heads next.

Graphically, Iron Man VR is quite crisp and colourful on the PS4Pro and when matched with the excellent sound effects and super heroic music, it all comes together quite well with the gameplay that once again gives you the illusion that you are Iron Man. Add in hidden Easter eggs to be found and most gamers will easily finish this game in 8 to 10 hours and due to the fun factor of the title, it definitely opens itself to another play. All in all, a fun and must play VR experience on the PlayStation!
