When it's all said and done, L.A. Noire is the game Heavy Rain wanted to be. Both games tell a tremendous story, guide the player, are entertaining for a broad audience as well, and at the very end, both games are milestones that move the video game world forward.

One of those timeless classics that just can't go wrong. The new offensive and defensive features are a great addition to a gameplay already close to perfection.

Every player can choose his path and skill his own favorite skills. The setting and the light-shadow-effects are pretty cool, but on the other side there are graphical weak points and a quiet hero. Both kill a bit of the awesome atmosphere but all in all it's an immersive game with a deep gameplay experience and many ways to complete the missions. It's a must-have for all action-fans this fall.

The developers of Firaxis did a great job of transfering the old PC-game into the year 2012. The view and the optics are not high-end but they are prefect for this genre, while the speakers, the loading-times and the multiplayer-mode are weak points. The gameplay is deep and tactical and the good old XCOM-setting is omnipresent. XCOM: Enemy Unknown makes round-based strategy socially acceptable again.

Though the campaign is short and not too demanding, Battlefield 3 is without a doubt the best shooter of the year 2011. The multiplayer mode with its huge maps, brilliant 64 player battles, and the return of the jets is the best thing going.

It succeeds in scaring the heck out of you and binding your hands to the controller. Much action, much horror and an amazing atmosphere contribute to a great game chilling down your spine.

It's a revolution in many ways: loads of augmentations, many open choices and the story itself are real strengths. However, not everyone will like the high difficulty, imprecise controls and RPG elements.

L.A. Noire is something different, something new, sometimes frustrating, but an experience not yet seen in any other game.

Paying homage to His Airness alongside top teams from his days and today make this game a true gem for real basketball aficionados, as long as you are willing to bite the difficulty bullet – because it's hard, really hard.

Because of its insanely high difficulty, Dark Souls isn't for everyone. That said, after playing a while, you'll eventually fall in love with Dark Souls, and spend mnay, many hours on it. Prepare to die!

Nothing new under the sun – that's spot-on. CoD: MW3 is a great game with no innovation. The graphics are outstanding, the sound effects amazing and the multiplayer as good as ever. The short campaign, the poor soundtrack, indestructible background objects and the shallow story, told in a confusing way, are disappointing though. Still, the game is very intense and well done. A must buy for all the fans.

NHL 11 manages to conserve the feeling that's unique to hockey. It's action and battle, and if you're into that, this is your game!

Dead Space was worth the wait. The atmosphere is great, the action nice and tiny mistakes can be discovered only at third sight. Fans of the horror genre will sit in the dark and play all night long.

Riders of Rohan is the best add-on for Lord of the Rings Online thus far. It has one of the best mounted combats I've ever seen in MMOs and with the great, atmospheric Tolkien universe it is a great game for every fan of the books or the films.

Right next to Medal of Honor, this one's struggling to be your action game of the year. It's more suited for veterans than for beginners, and the ending smells roughly like DLC. Nevertheless, great game!

Even though The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings takes some time to reveal its greatness, the game is enthralling from the very first second. It will take you some time to master the controls, because the combat system is a pretty unique mix of tactical movement and mere brutality. The modern game engine makes the game optically beautiful and the synchronization of the characters is amazing. Easily one of the best Action-RPGs for Xbox360.

Some new features and an interesting story make BioShock 2 to a more than equal sequel. It's a pity that there are not many scenes that really take place under water and deliver that feeling of being trapped.

Diablo III is a perfectly done hack 'n' slay game that captures the spirit of its predecessors. Great cinematics, a well-done talent system and large maps are just a few of Diablo III's strengths.

A worthy successor, spectacular, yet slightly problematic when it comes down to its AI. As MW3 offers a great experience and a strong multiplayer mode, it can be recommended.
