Breach & Clear is a game that does a lot of little things right, but once the gameplay hits, almost all of that is thrown out the window. The customization alone may be more than enough to keep some players invested for a short while. On the other hand, the bare-bones gameplay will be a huge turn-off to both hardcore strategy fans and users looking for a new mobile game.

It’s hard to stop playing Ravenmark: Mercenaries once you get started, which is probably the highest form of praise that a strategy game can get. It’s fun to play solo or against other people, and it’s almost certain to have you plotting strategies even when you’re away from your phone or tablet.

Essentially, the source material for Zombies!!! was simply never good enough to deliver a truly compelling mobile experience.

Even all the cookies and 3D fruit in the world couldn’t satisfy my appetite of just wanting something more from this one.

If you’re looking for a new endless game and think that going up sounds like a nice change from going right to left, you won’t be disappointed with Flyro. What the game lacks in style, it makes up for in stuff, and good old-fashioned fun gameplay.

For what it is, Hakitzu Elite: Robot Hackers is actually pretty cool. It looks reasonably good, plays well, and I personally find programming a string of commands into my Codewalkers and then watching them carry them out to be incredibly satisfying. Of course, the downside to that is having to wade through a fairly clunky and unintuitive interface to make it all happen. It can be worth the headache, but it definitely requires a bit of patience.

Gentlemen! is great fun, and well worth splashing out on if you often find yourself wanting to play tablet games with a friend. Solo players need not apply, obviously, but if you're hankering for some friendly Victorian-style deathmatch, then this is a game that will suffice.

Yes, Saturn Defense is free, and there are dozens of hours just waiting to be played: just don’t expect it to pop up on any year-end best of lists, or even be remembered a few months down the road.

Problems aside, series fans should enjoy Bloons TD Battles, especially since the Assault Mode adds an extra layer of strategy. Get back to monkeying around. It’s your duty.

A clever and generous puzzler that excels in gameplay far beyond where it fails in presentation. Open it up anytime you’d like a cool, refreshing Ahhh followed by an inevitable brain freeze.

Overall, Sine Mora is well worth the time of anyone into mobile shoot’em ups. There are plenty of annoyances, especially for the less experienced player.

The iOS version of Nuclear Outrun is loud, violent, and packed with nonstop action—all of which may actually be a turn-off if you’re a fan of the original game’s eerie minimalistic presentation. The steep price for in-app purchases certainly robs you of the sense of progress that’s granted in the original Nuclear Outrun, which is disappointing.

So all things considering, Galactic Skater is a fantastic addition to the endless runner genre at large, and with its swift and simple controls, its rewarding sense of progression, and the sheer amount of variety in its addictive skating gameplay, I think it’s safe to say that this one is truly out of this world.

The clean aesthetic, soothing sounds, and repetitive (in a good way) nature of the game go hand in hand together and create a wholly enjoyable puzzler experience. For the low price of free, it's a few good hours of tapping and dragging, and plenty of eye-popping color.

Turd Birds also lets you collect feathers that unlock more birds with hilariously appropriate names (if Otis Splotus can’t get the job done, no bird can). The new birds have awesome abilities like rapid-fire pooping, but some of them require hundreds of feathers to unlock. You can, of course, spend real-life money to unlock birds and power-ups, and of course, you’re probably not going to want to bother (unless you’re really itching to explain to your significant other why you spent $100 in a game called “Turd Birds.”)

Cannon Crasha is a rather simple game backed by a ton of fun. The standard cannon battles are consistently exciting and they steal the show. It’s a shame that the other gameplay modes are present at all because they do nothing but damage the overall experience.

Blastron is in every way a competent Worms-style battle that translates well to touch screens and does more than most games on the style front. If you’ve got a strong stomach for microtransactions and a hefty appetite for physics-based humor, then open wide to catch this hand grenade between your teeth.

Wheel of Fortune: Cubed is a bit of a strange take on the Wheel of Fortune franchise, but it does manage to create a playable atmosphere with some honestly challenging puzzles to solve. The controls tend towards the awkward side, but most of the time you'll be too busy wondering what a tree-hugging bear is and how you can spell that in five blank spaces.

In every way possible, Tiny Thief manages to raise the bar between what can be accomplished on the mobile platform today in 2013, as it settles right into its impeccable balance between fun, original gameplay, and the bright accessibility of games like Angry Birds.

Lengthy initial install times and over reliance on forcing ads into players’ faces aside, Baseball Slam is a wonderfully ridiculous hybrid of two very unlikely ball games. It’s colorful, chaotic, easy to play, and even easier to keep playing. And this is all coming from someone who cares as much about the MLB as the current precipitation levels in Tasmania.

City Cat is exactly the kind of game that gives the endless-runner genre a good name, and is perfect for people looking to game for reasons ranging from short and sweet fun, to experiencing addictive competition with their friends. Download this game immediately.

Crossword battles are an interesting idea, and if you match yourself up with the right opponent, CrossMyWord is a lot of silly fun (“Cuts vegetables, hates turtles: S-H-R-E-D-D-E-R”). Serious crossword buffs won’t be impressed, however, at least not until the game receives some much-needed fine-tuning.

Even with these problems, Deus Ex: The Fall sets a precedent for first-person shooters on mobile. The touch controls are the best among mobile shooters, and the story does a great job complementing them.

Big robots beating the mess out of big monsters... if there isn't much more to the movie than that, and you don't mind much more to Pacific Rim the game, either, then this might be for you. But if you want something that you can put a little more of yourself into, then you might want to just keep on looking.

Sprinkle Islands is a really tough call to make; the original was pretty good, and for the most part, this one does well to uphold those same elements, but in the end, we just weren't enjoying this one quite as much. If you decide to pursue this one, do so with some caution, but if you haven't played the original either, give that one a try instead.

So for everyone who’s always wanted a hardcore gaming experience on a mobile device, while still maintaining that simplicity of design and addictive short bursts of gameplay, then Dungeonism is most definitely the dungeon crawler for you. And if anything, it can always teach you a thing or two about making it out alive.

If you've avoided CCGs because you've been holding out for one that satisfies your deep and abiding love of all things Joe, then G.I. Joe: Battleground is definitely the game for you; but if not, you can do better elsewhere.

Greedy Dwarf is a compelling amalgam of quality game mechanics that doesn’t take the lazy endless runner route and doesn’t waste the player’s time with chaff. Drag it out into the harsh light of day that Tiny Wings occupies and you’ll find that it looks like, well... a dwarf, but you’ll be content to stay underground with this one for a while.
