Monster Hospital could have been simplified a bit to make it more instantly engaging, but the resulting product has a good amount of depth and quite a bit of staying power. It's a grind, for sure, and one that relies a little too much on in-app purchases to keep things moving, but everything else falls right into place, creating a game that's entertaining, funny, challenging, and just so darn cute!

Sure, the game isn't as deep as its PC counterparts, but it doesn't have to be. It's the perfect portable fix for fans of the genre with its flawless combat and awesome co-op option. Get the game for free, invest a little in a gem pack, and enjoy it for everything it has going for it.

By making Holidaytown a standalone app rather than an update to the existing Hometown, Zynga was able to re-envision their entire offering with a Christmas twist without upsetting the status quo.

Overall, Swift Revenge is a fun addition to the App Store. It has enjoyable characters with amusing dialogue, some nice music, and is overall fun, if a little frustrating at times. If you don't mind a game with a bit of bite, then pick this one up.

Don’t Shoot Yourself! is an interesting take on the bullet hell genre, but as a part of that genre, may not be for everyone. In this case, though, it feels like a cross between those games and the classic Snake number-eating game, so it may yet appeal to some outside of that core audience.

House of Hell might not have been amongst the very best of the original Fighting Fantasy series, but Tin Man have made the most of the opportunities afforded by the digital transition to improve on the paper version, and make it as fun as possible.

It won’t replace One Finger Death Punch, but it’ll make for a decent enough stand-in.

Like Draw Something, Can't Say That! is incredibly simple to pick up and learn, even if you haven't played two seconds of Taboo. The game moves extremely quickly, which is nice: you can challenge one opponent after another, and solving a word usually doesn't take up more than twenty seconds of your time (because you're a sharp little cookie, right?).

It just needs to be a fun little puzzle game that's well worth the price of admission. And when looked at in that light, Pudding Monsters is downright delicious.

Out There is a solidly built game that I can happily recommend to anyone looking for a proper adventure game, and to players who don't mind testing their luck over their ability to plan. It's worth mentioning that the game is largely text-based, so it's suitable for players of all skill levels.

Card Crawl is an impressively solid card game that borrows what works from other games and spins it into it’s own, unique, game.

If you're looking for more Burn the Rope fun, Worlds delivers just that, with the same great gameplay and adorable visuals. There's just more of it and, thankfully, the controls have been tweaked to make things less frustrating.

Each person who plays Piloteer will quickly do one of two things: They’ll either work very hard at perfecting the nuances of the game’s flight physics (an endeavor that takes a lot of practice), or they’ll laugh at the titular piloteer bashing her head against the park bench a few times, quickly get fed up with the game’s physics, and move on.

Whether you're a fan of the game and are always in want of an opponent, or you've never played and want a cheaper way to learn it and check it out, it's hard to beat this version. Kudos to Codito – they're quickly proving themselves to be among the masters of digital board game adaptations.

Best of all, it’s enjoyable - even when you sigh at yourself for the twentieth time because you were foolish and ran too fast. For those reasons, this is a particularly classy hardcore dungeon crawler.

Like most games of this nature, you won’t always have something to do as you’re earning your way to your objectives — and that’s really the only bad thing to be said about it. If wishing I could spend more time in my virtual Sunnyvale is my sole complaint, East Side Games are definitely doing something right.

Our only real criticism is that this could have positioned itself as the complete Fowlst package for console, offering the original Fowlst and Super Fowlst as unlockables. For the low price-tag Super Fowlst 2 is hard to resist though, and anyone after a well presented and charming high-score focused experience should look no further.

In the end, from the graphics and soundtrack to personalisation and sizeable rewards for ad views, 3 Sprockets really knocks it out of the park with Digby Forever. It’s unlikely to hold gamers looking for a complex or entirely original gameplay experience, but for those on the hunt for something endlessly fun, it should be able to hold a homescreen spot for quite a while.

The controls in Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage are easy enough to get used to given time, however. Between the game’s good humor, varied gameplay, and interesting puzzles, it’d be a shame to sit out this voyage, even though hitting an iceberg is inevitable.

One of the nicest things about QuizUp is that the game is laid out in front of you from the minute you hit start. There are no coins to collect, no "premium" categories to earn.
