Minor control issues aside, it successfully walks the fine line between being playable in quick bursts and being fun enough to play for much longer than that. It's another great game from the likes of [adult swim], a developer I trust more with each release.

At first glance, Shake Spears! seems rather shallow and repetitive. But it turns out that isn't the case. There's a surprising amount of strategy involved with the gameplay, especially in the latter portions of the title. As a result, there's a lot of challenge, depth, and fun.

It maintains some excellent tower defense action while adding a new aspect that keeps things interesting enough to deserve attention. It's enough familiarity mixed with some freshness that is definitely worth experiencing.

Every level is worth at least one play-through thanks to some excellent platforming and simple puzzle elements that force the brain to work a few steps ahead. Don't let the look of this title fool you--it's quite exciting and requires a sharp mind. Some variety in goals would be nice, but these are more petty wants added on to a really solid experience.

Circa Infinity will certainly frustrate you but never so much that you quit.

While we're not entirely sure why they're doing it, it's wonderfully refreshing that Glu seems committed to reinventing Mafia Wars- style gameplay by making it more interactive.

The bulk of Bloody Western is pretty good. So long as users don't mind the slow burn of questing and dueling, it's a nice change of pace from all the carbon copy mafia-themed games on the market.

As you may have surmised, Micro Miners is not a game for those who frustrate easily -- Simple controls or not, it's one tough cookie. For those in the market for a mobile game with a bit of a kick, though, it ought to scratch that itch just fine.

Otherwise, Star Wars: Tiny Death Star is a must-play if you're a Star Wars fan who enjoyed the original Tiny Tower (and if you haven't played Tiny Tower yet, say good-bye to your loved ones). Despite its familiarity, Tiny Death Star glows a strong, warm Force.

Given its real time multiplayer nature, Disney Magical Dice is going to need a steady community for you to really reap the benefits (although there is AI play), but it’s certainly enjoyable enough to keep you playing. It’s generous enough with its consumables too to ensure that you won’t feel cheated along the way.

MetalStorm: Aces is a great follow-up to a popular dogfighting action game. It looks pretty, the controls are nice and responsive, and there are a fair number of options for most gaming tastes.

If you’re looking for a game that doesn’t play by the same old rules, or you just fancy seeing a different take on the Space Invaders template for a more discerning modern audience, then this one is well worth picking up. Just be aware that there are going to be times when you’re gnashing your teeth trying to get through some more stodgy sections.

FIFA 12 goes a long way towards proving me wrong, providing a genuinely compelling gameplay experience and presentation that, while not up to the same standard as its console brethren, does a very good job regardless. FIFA 12 is a nice way to get your FIFA fix on the go.

Keeping with the kid-friendly tone of Wizard101, the monsters in Grub Guardian look more cuddly than menacing.

This is a sequel that improves upon its predecessor in multiple ways, and it's hard to ask for or expect more than that. With its strangely compelling mix of skill, luck and strategy, King Cashing 2 is a second trip worth taking. Dare we hope it becomes a trilogy?

Little Acorns features quite a bit of content as well, with 60 stages spread out over three years, with four seasons apiece.

It's hard to escape the impression that there's a barely concealed desire to plunder your bank account with premium gold purchases. But with the new design, it's not the kind of game that forces you to these extremes. Provided you have your wits and a cargo hold of determination about you, it's well worth the mere two dollars you'll have to pay to unlock the content beyond the first free level.

Card Wars – Adventure Time isn’t perfect, but as Finn and Jake might say, it’s a lot closer to being a cool guy than a dweeb. And no one likes being called a dweeb.

Visually, Injustice 2 is a feast, with those aforementioned cinematics backed up by pretty good-looking character models once the fighting actually begins. In motion, they sometimes are a little stiff, and blended with the controls, the whole experience just isn’t quite as crisp as it feels it could be. But then you’ll see one of the ultimate moves play out, like Cyborg boom tubing an opponent to Apokalips and seeing the poor sap get beat up by two Parademons before returning to Earth and getting a huge sonic cannon blast to the face. Somehow that makes your small gripes about the game go away.

If this is the direction that the Worms series is going to be taking in the years down the road, then I think Worms 3 can easily be seen as the starting point for these little guys’ eventual world domination (well you know, if they’re able to really crawl that far).

Nightmares From the Deep: The Cursed Heart is kind of like the old pirates of yore: What it lacks in finesse, it makes up for in brute force. If refinement and attention to detail are a priority, then it will probably leave you cold. But if what you're after is a big pile of hidden object scenes and you're not too particular about how it's all tied together, this tale of tragedy on the high seas will fit the bill nicely.

Darkfire Heroes is a brash and engaging experience that’s going to hook you in from the first battle to the umpteenth, and you’re going to play it with a wrapt grin on your face. Check it out, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Tomb of the Mask is a game of precision and quick thinking. It’s frantic, and yet remains wildly accessible.

Driving feels good, combat is crazy fun and the upgrade system is borderline addictive. It's true I wish there were more tracks, but hopefully that's a problem that will be remedied soon. But as it stands it's one of the best racing games we've seen on the App Store yet.

It might just be a collection of mini versions of games we’ve seen before, but Rooms of Doom adds something special and new to each of this tiny slices of fun.

It's fun, it's intuitive, and it even has the ability to record play to be shared on YouTube or Facebook. The app is lighthearted with fantastic and highly saturated color palette, and despite their simplicity, each of the three characters have a wonderful amount of personality.

A freemium offering with great visuals and challenging gameplay, Storm The Train is a worthy addition to any iDevice.
