Battling on the streets is amusing whether you’re in the career mode – thanks to a good AI – or playing against 20 other players online. Plenty of power-ups, speed and destruction at your service!

Unlike its predecessor, UFC 2010 Undisputed didn't cause us any astonishment. The graphics weren't much improved and the animation routines still show some of the past glitches. Hing said that, this is still an excellent game, enriched by a deeper Career mode and new fighting styles.

In spite of the inevitable signs the long development times have left on its gameplay structure, Alan Wake is still one of those titles every psychological action-thriller game lover can’t miss out. But it is also an intense story, with a dense atmosphere, that any videogame lover should at least try once.

It is quite evident that Rockstar have made a huge effort in creating Red Dead Redemption. And it was well worth it because this game boasts an incredible level of depth from all points of view: storyline, character design, structure of the environments, gameplay solutions, controls, multiplayer. Everything is just like we wanted it.

Split/Second is everything but an arcade driving game. It’s challenging, involving, entertaining varied, technically stunning and… fast and furious!

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands marks Ubisoft’s intended return to an old gameplay formula, mixing platform elements with hack-n-slash fights and a wise sprinkle of puzzles. The idea is good and suggestive too, but some minor shortcomings and – most of all – a very limited longevity have jeopardized the final outcome.

Lost Planet 2 is more like a large multiplayer expansion of the previous iteration rather than a real sequel. Unchanged when it comes to most of its dynamics, it boasts very good graphics and a supreme online structure. Pity the single player campaign appears somewhat shallow and almost pointless.

Although Dead to Rights: Retribution is somehow enjoyable to play at, we cannot help having a déjà-vu feeling. Substantially, it is a remake of the 2002 edition, updated to modern technology and consoles.

Nier is a typical wannabe action-shooter-RPG: the dev. team put so much into this project that the end result turned out to be a rather confused mash-up. Still it's got some charm to it that might even convince you, for some unknown reason, to play at it for hours. Try it before you buy it!

The only reason why we didn’t give our best vote to this game is because it is closely related to an event after which the title could lose part of its attractiveness (there are no league teams and there is no substantial change in the multiplayer mode). Avalanche Studios took all the complaints about Just Cause and turned them into Just Cause 2, proposing a more vibrant and richer gameplay experience, though maintaining the same formula. The vast and marvelous Palau is definitely a place you gotta see… and destroy!

In a unique single-player experience, Red Steel 2 brings the player into a stylish Samurai-Far Western world dominated by violence. A clever use of the Wii MotionPlus, some fine cosmetics and the wise balance between shooting and fighting sessions are the keys of its success.

SBK hasn’t found the rival we were all expecting to see. Yet Moto GP 09/10 is still a good raging game and quite good fun to play as well. If you are a huge fun of this genre, and cannot wait until the next SBK, then this is your ride!

God of War III puts a glorious end to an epic trilogy, introducing astonishing scenarios and original gameplay solutions. It is simply the best hack ‘n slash out there right now. A must-buy even if you’re not a fan of this genre!

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is an evocative game, filled with all the oriental charm you’d expect from a high-level adventure game made in Japan. Yet, some serious flaws in the game design – its combat structure above all – hinder the overall experience, relegating this title to a small niche of fans.

Less to do and much, much more to see. Final Fantasy XIII preserves the usual depth of its storyline, adding stunning graphics and sound, which make this a game worth playing. Yet, the lack of any typical RPG action and the technical differences of the PS3 against the X360 version left us quite confused, if not upset.

Yakuza 3 is still a great game, in spite of the fact that it’s a whole year old, as some aspects of its gameplay and graphics sporadically show. The wait was worth it.

Heavy Rain is a masterpiece, but of a controversial kind, because not every player out there will be ready to understand and accept its rather unique and innovative gameplay. More like an interactive novel than an action game, its stunning visuals and music have set a new next-gen standard.

SEGA made good use of the experience made with Empire to improve its RTS formula, resulting in a more effective gameplay. Although Napoleon: Total War has its shortcomings – even with the AI – it still manages to keep the player involved throughout, thanks to its thoroughness and rather accurate historical setting.

In spite of its resemblance with Mario Kart, Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing still is an enjoyable racing game, with the charm of SEGA’s characters still intact. It’s a pity we didn’t find our favourite ones, though.

First of all Risen is an RPG made for RPGs lovers. Thus, it’s definitely not a casual game for it demands effort, patience and time before the player can master its wide structure and all of its various elements. A large and fully explorable island and the frequent decisions you’re asked to take make this game almost endless.

Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep offers a unique and rather original game experience. Pity, though, it is way too similar to its predecessor.

Although Aliens vs. Predator had on its side such charming alien characters and a glorious videogame past, in its new iteration something must have gone terribly wrong, resulting in and old-looking, old-fashioned FPS you’ll soon get bored with unless you are a huge fan of the franchise.

More than a new chapter, Bioshock 2 appears rather like an expansion to the first iteration. In spite of its vibrant settings and an impeccable control system, you get the feeling of déjà-vu from the first minute you are back in Rapture. So why did we give it a high score? Well, we still love Rapture after all!

We’ve gone to Hell and returned, and although we couldn’t help having the feeling of being constantly watched by Kratos lurking somewhere in the shadows, we think that Dante’s Inferno is a game to play… from top to bottom.

Star Trek Online could have been so much better… Unfortunately there are too many areas where the game structure suffers from a certain lack of depth. We would recommend it only to real Trekkies.

Global Agenda's developers Hi-Rez Studios have wisely mixed together MMORPG elements with FPS action resulting in an amazing online experience, which reaches its apex in the Conquest mode. It is not perfect, it must be said, but we've enjoyed it a lot!

Storytelling, atmosphere, playability, graphics, music, characters, everything in Mass Effect 2 screams the word KOLOSSAL out loud! This game, and this saga, deserve to sit right next to Sci-Fi classics such as Star Wars and Star Trek. Masterpiece.

No More Heroes 2 is a violent yet elegant Anime-style fighting game, filled with action and supported by an intense storyline. Also, it has an impressive number of secondary missions and old-style arcade games.

If you have the Wii and love fighting games and Tatsunoko characters as well, you must get this game! Otherwise, you must still get Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars! Got it?

The constant frame rate and the shear number of players shooting at the same time on its vast maps don’t seem enough to compensate for the scarce level of graphics, textures, sound effects and game modes MAG has to offer. Disappointment.

On paper Dark Void was a Sci-Fi colossal: an interesting storyline, and a varied vertical gameplay seemed fairly good assets. Unfortunately, it all turned out to be a shallow blend of old ideas, slow and repetitive action, and limited longevity. That without mentioning the bugs.

Sky Crawlers gives you the chance to chose from different and effective control systems, which we liked, and the variety of missions and the various extras increased our fun throughout our review. But the cut-scenes are just too long!

Darksiders puts on the plate loads of action and a well-varied gameplay. The fact that most of its ideas and some of its characterisation and character design were inspired by other successful games – living little room for originality – doesn’t affect the overall fun.

Bayonetta was a cult game since it was still just an embryo, and as such it is a controversial title. Fully based on an oriental approach to the gameplay and a hectic rhythm, in a bizarre mixture of graphical marvel and technical flaws, it is either love or hate at first sight. Actually, we quite liked it!

The biggest problem with Divinity 2: Ego Draconis is that it’s been released soon after Dragon Age: Origins. Although it has better graphics than Bioware’s title, it lacks some of its depth, and its gameplay is sometimes too simplistic.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers doesn’t stand up to the task of representing the Final Fantasy saga on the Wii. Actually, it’s not even a good RPG after all, non even on the Wii where role playing games are notoriously lacking.

The Saboteur may not be a top title, but it’s got all the elements you would expect from an action game, including stealth elements and driving sessions. And it is also quite enjoyable! And if you like dark atmospheres and WWII backgrounds, then we definitely recommend it.

Honestly, we didn’t expect to see the best Silent Hill since long right on the Wii, but here it is. Silent Hill Shattered Memories offers great graphics and atmosphere, but most of all it’s got an excellent gameplay.

Excellent level and character design, superb graphics (for the DS), sumptuous music, incredible longevity, good multiplayer and some good elements of innovation: you name it, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks has it! Just go and buy it!

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes was a welcome surprise. By managing to assemble together various elements from multiple game genres and placing them in a non-original yet vibrant fantasy environment, its creators have tailored what we think is one of the best 2010 DS titles so far.

Resident Evil: the Darkside Chronicle is more than we’d expected: a strong improvement since Umbrella Chronicles. The camera is far from being perfect and the level of details is poor. Yet it offer an enjoyable gaming experience.

In spite of some shortcomings such as the hectic camera, Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery is a good adaptation of some of Assassin’s Creed 2’s gameplay aspects. It is not a sandbox game, but it is still quite remarkable, especially graphics-wise.

LittleBigPlanet PSP is a marvelous example of how a game should be adapted from one console to another even when there is a huge gap between the two in terms of processor. There is almost everything we’ve seen in the PS3 version here, all greatly adapted to Sony’s portable.

Even though the storyline is quite interesting, giving you once more the chance to be the assassin as Altair, Assassin's Creed 2: Bloodlines suffers from some technical glitches that inevitably hinder the overall game experience.

Left 4 Dead 2 is simply a must-have for all survival horror enthusiasts. The new game modes and the usual mix of adrenaline and co-op gameplay is the living(dead) proof that a sequel doesn’t always have to change its original nature to be enjoyable, very enjoyable!

Poor style and graphics don’t make a good game, so Formula 1 Wii should not be a good game. Yet it is not a complete disaster… On the contrary it is actually quite fun to play and should be savored as a starter before the main course is served on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The PSP version of F1 2009 is far better than its Wii counterpart. It is not a top racing game, but it’s definitely the best you can get on Sony’s portable right now.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a masterpiece in terms of FPS gameplay and graphics. The different locations and the variety of situation you’ll encounter are often jaw-dropping. But it is also a controversial game for some extreme situations the player might encounter along the road.

It is never easy to create a multiplayer gameplay experience. It is even more difficult to put that same gameplay in a wide open arena where gravity is absent. And it is so much more difficult to use gravity itself as part of the gameplay experience. But Shattered Horizon did it all quite well.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is not the turning point everyone’s been waiting for over the past year. Yet again. The scarce number of novelties, and the low level of innovation and realism, opposite to a gameplay engine in desperate need for a rethinking, eventually have turned THE soccer simulation into something closer to an arcade game. Strangely enough, a game we may still like, though.

Although Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron takes more than a simple hint from its predecessor, it introduces a new and much more varied mission structure, making the game much more fun.

In spite of some minor glitches and the DS’ obvious technical limitations, C.O.P. The Recruit offers a rich and enjoyable gameplay alongside a sandbox structure, and a living and breathing virtual world.

Dragon Age: Origins has it all! In spite of the unsatisfying graphics, it has so much on offer in terms of gameplay, storyline and longevity that it deserves to be played by every single GDR fan out there!

The Guitar Hero spin-off mania has hit the dance floor, positively introducing the pop genre to all its fans. Band Hero is a very enjoyable rhythm game, with great songs and loads of gameplay modes.

Football Manager 2010 has maintained the same structure of the past iteration, still it has managed to improve its gameplay thanks to some minor add-ons that managed to reinforce that sense of realism all its fans have grown accostumed to. The interface and the graphics engine too have been greatly improved.

It is very frustrating when you have the chance to enjoy a game so much, but it all ends way too soon… Need for Speed: Nitro is just this: great gameplay, awfully short.

Rabbids Go Home is extremely enjoyable mostly thanks to its incredible sense of humour. It is also quite varied, offering many different gameplay situations. Graphically convincing, it’s definitely worth giving it a go!

Grand Theft Auto IV The Ballad Of Gay Tony is a five-star add-on. The storyline is simply ravishing, some of the old graphics glicthes have been repaired and even the aim system has been finally improved. Actually, it would have deserved to be sold on shelves as a complete game, such is the amount of things to do.

Visually stunning, Tekken 6 introduces new characters, options and modes, alongside the possibility to customize your own fighter, yet without abandoning its successful gameplay formula.

DJ Hero has won the bet! It is indeed possible to enjoy the “Guitar Hero formula” while scratching and mixing like a real DJ.

Forza Motorsport 3 has finally become more than Microsoft’s response to Sony’s Gran Turismo. It is a mature and very realistic driving simulation, one that you will enjoy whether you’re a pro or a rookie of the driving genre. Excellent graphics, incredible sound samplings and all the fine tuning you want for over 400 vehicles are on offer. Hop in!

Fairytale Fights is one of those games you can either love or... luv! Wondering around the woods in a red hood slashing all living creatures into tiny pieces with splashes of blood pouring all over adds a unique flavour to it, one that will inevitably bring you back to your childhood memories. Well, not quite...

Put an FPS, an RPG and a Sandbox game into a deep pan, mix gently and then add a pinch of Fist of the North Star and abundant Fallout flavouring. Stir and cook for a while then add cel shade graphics, plenty of blood and weapons and a solid multiplayer structure, and you’ll have Borderlands. Although at first it smells a bit like frozen pizza, give it a bite and you'll see that it tastes oh! so good!

Tropico 3’s gameplay hasn’t changed much since the first iteration thus making it difficult for the players to decide whether the new graphics is enough to make want to be El Presidente once again… But if you’ve never played at it before, this is a great chance!

Although it is always quite difficult to judge a videogame that has no term of comparison other than itself, we can state the fact that WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 marks a big step forward for the whole franchise, introducing improved graphics, improved collision system and improved gameplay as a whole.

The result is outstanding: FIFA 10 is a spectacular football simulation, one all fans should never miss. The good job done on the previous edition has been expanded and enhanced in this new version, adding more realism than ever to all the gameplay and animation aspects. PES 2010 has just received its final warning.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars PSP has passed the test: the conversion from the excellent DS version to the less versatile Sony portable went smoothly. The loss of interaction given by the touchscreen was compensated by a clever use of combined commands, and by the addition of new, exclusive missions.

Instead of the necessary change of pace and quality in the series, Way of the Samurai 3 represents its negative continuation.

Although it is affected by old looking graphics and some technical shortcomings, Brutal Legend is still a game to be played and enjoyed throughout. Humor, action, open world exploration and an extraordinary sound compartment – more than 100 track by the most important Metal bands out there, and Jack Black’s interpretation – are well worth the ticket!

Graphically stunning, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is, first of all, an interactive adventure, one that feels like a movie and even has a storyline of a movie. Most gameplay situations have been tailored in order to stun the player with originality and identification, and the end result is absolutely amazing.

An old classic comes back to life for nest-gen consoles and players. A Boy and His Blob offers great 2D graphics and an original gameplay – even for the present standards – but most of all it is a work of art of rare sensibility.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games offers many enjoyable sports disciplines to be played alone or in the usual party mode, which can be real fun. Nevertheless, the control system should have been better, and some of the competitions are not so involving.

Cities XL fills in the void left by SimCity, since it turned more attention towards human interaction. Its building and management systems are incredibly varied and complex, giving the player complete control over the city’s growth. And the possibility to share online the whole town with other players in an interactive manner guarantees longevity to the gameplay.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising’s best assets are strategy and realism. It is not an easy game to play, as it requires time to be mastered, but the effort is definitely worth it if you’re after a real war simulator!

SAW is a good idea for a tie-in but nothing more than that. It got lost somewhere in its own asylum, in those dark corridors and repetitive riddles.

NBA Live 10 has shortened the gap separating it from the winner’s glory… from NBA 2K10, that is. Its major assets are once again the incredible graphics and the excellent audio. We've been waiting for Demon's Souls to come to Europe for what seemed to be an endless time, and the wait was well worth it!

The poor AI and the ever absent damage system have spoiled our first GT experience on the PSP. Gran Turismo PSP is nevertheless a good product, enriched by tons of vehicle, tracks and tuning details all four-wheel enthusiasts will enjoy.
