It does what it says on the tin, but it's not really a game as such. [Feb 2008, p.82]- Games Master UK

A horrible mess of a fighting system scuppers it, but fans will love it anyway. [Jan 2007, p.68]- Games Master UK

Not as exciting as it thinks it is. Standard movie tie-in fodder with added panache. [Oct 2011, p.94]- Games Master UK

When on form it's a great arcade flight game. When it isn't, the gameplay can be monotonous. [Dec 2009, p.70]- Games Master UK

A rather uninspired remake of a solid JRPG experience. It's still a great game, and a history lesson, too. [Apr 2018, p.70]- Games Master UK

It fails to match the original's arcade urgency, but if you have to have it, the new co-op maps and upgrade system make this the definitive remake. [Issue#231, p.93]- Games Master UK

A hugely mixed bag. On one hand, it's fantastic that there's a developer so staunchly dedicated to making games that veer towards the artistic while still retaining mechanics we know and enjoy. On the other hand, this is a game full of design decisions that feel stuck in the past, made obsolete years ago. [Jan 2016, p.60]- Games Master UK
