The series’ debut of online multiplayer adds replay value to Strikeforce, which is hard to ignore. However, if you’re interested in hack and slash action, there are more polished, next generation games available at fairer prices.

By relying, and cashing in on, what made the Bioshock so great, 2K has made a worthy sequel. However, they did so without surpassing the original. Bioshock 2 isn’t exactly what its predecessor was in terms of novelty but remains a great game that every gamer should check out, whether you’ve played the first outing or not.

Dante’s Inferno is a game of contradictions. It’s based on a literary epic but appeals to the most common denominator. It’s rammed full of sex, violence and depravity but sets a record as being the one of the first video game I’ve played where this feels completely tacked on. It’s just masking third-rate gameplay and a soulless experience.

While the first Wii offering (Banana Blitz) was a solid entry with some interesting features (jumping and boss battles), Step & Roll strips away all of that and leaves you with a straightforward Monkey Ball offering. However, it also leaves you wanting quite a bit more.

If you didn't get a chance to pick up Star Ocean: The Last Hope last year or don't own a 360, yet love Japanese style RPGs, then you owe it to yourself to give The Last Hope International a spin.

White Knight Chronicles is a game that could have been so much more. Unfortunately, it seems Level 5 focused too much on the combat system and not enough on providing a challenge. That said, I would recommend renting before you buy, as the other elements just aren’t tight enough to make this an easy recommendation.

Global Agenda isn't a perfect game but there is a awful lot of potential in this well put together debut from Hi-Rez. They should also be applauded for utilizing a system that allowed optional subscription service and I hope to see this adopted by more developers and publishers in the future.

With its 150 puzzles and three different gameplay variants, KrissX should give you a few hours of quality enjoyment, even though its pricing could have been smaller. It may not be a breakthrough in the puzzle genre but it’s definitely an amusing, simple but still challenging game to experience.

Substantial improvements, great story, amazing character development…it’s not often that you get to name a “Game of the Year” candidate in January but guess what, I’m doing it now!

We don't always need a huge blockbuster adventure like Uncharted 2. A game that is simply fun because it's a game. From start to finish, No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle is that game.

The folks at Premium Agency were clearly inspired by Geometry Wars, and just added some blood and cubes. But, in the end there is a dead online multiplayer community, with little hope of attracting players from the single player campaign. Anybody looking for a less frustrating Shooter/Strategy should take a pass on this one.

For those who are looking for a grossly engaging and absorbing challenge, you won’t find that here. It is a fine first release in North America, so here’s hoping that if a sequel is in the cards, more effort is put into giving everyone a more expansive experience.

With an inability to keep gamers occupied, the repetitive nature will only turn younger players off. Had there been either more games to experience, or less focus on simple fetch quests, this would have been a sure-fire hit for youngsters.

For around $10, Serious Sam HD is a bit of old-school shooter fun but, unless you’re wild about the original, there isn’t much reason to pick this one up. There isn’t anything technically wrong with this port, it’s just the gameplay that won’t appeal to a large audience.

Let’s applaud the development team over at EA Montréal. They’ve made many changes and added new things to please fans as well as the non-believers without destroying the essence of what makes an Army of Two game. Still, the game could do some things better, but, so long as improvements are being made, the Army of Two franchise will be around for another go.

Sands Of Destruction is a series of great ideas that make for a very good, if not great, JRPG. Fans of the genre may find it a bit of a cake walk, but for novices, this could be a good point to hop on the JRPG train and enjoy the lengthy and entertaining ride.

Thanks to the fairly interesting story and by looking past some of the annoying missions, Sky Crawlers is a decent game. It still might not appeal to veteran flight combat fans, but for those looking for anything to take to the skies, they won’t be disappointed.

The strongest aspects of Divinity II are the excellent story, so long as you are willing to dig it out, and the incredibly open-ended character skills customization. While this game certainly has its flaws, the pros far outweigh the cons, and it is a game that cannot be sipped but must be gulped or possibly even quaffed!

An over the top homage to gaming's past, Blood, Bath and Beyond repairs Matt’s reputation as a gaming badass. Spot on humour and a penchant for gore make this easily recommendable to anyone who loved 8-bit shooters back in the day.

A unique storyline, amazing art direction and simple combat mechanics, Darksiders does things differently enough to distinguish itself as the first great game of 2010 even though its not a perfect game. If you’ve got some money burning a hole in your pocket, Vigil Games’ first effort is worth every dollar.

It’s only January and this game easily chalks itself up as a heavy contender in 2010 for Best Action Game. If you’re even remotely interested in action games, this is a must-have. Bayonetta is candy for the eyes and a pleasure for the thumbs.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most disappointing Final Fantasy games in a long time. A competent story is completely ruined by persistent camera issues, weak combat and poor objectives. You can clearly see the potential it had to be a great game, it just would have been better served by a bit more time in development.

Unless you are an absolute die-hard Van Halen fan there is no way you should pay full price for a game that only offers half the content. If you really want to play it, wait until this game lands in the Bargain Bins in a few months time.
