While the puzzle genre has certainly seen improvements over the many years, Chuck's Challenge is content with slapping on a coat of paint onto a 25 year old game, covering up what little charm the series and instead replacing it with tired level design wrapped in an uninspired package.

The journey is captivating but it's over all too soon, and for all its beauty the game's world feels empty without other characters to speak to.

Give me a quality plot, or an interesting setting, or something to impress me enough to work through its weaker elements. Magus doesn't offer any stand out feature, which makes it difficult to get too excited over.

Even if Bloober Team manages to fix every single issue in the game, it's still a conceptual mess that just doesn't work.

The story takes far too long to start making sense and as enjoyable as the gameplay is, the game isn't as fun as it should be because, for a good while, nothing makes sense.

The real appeal of the game is in its presentation. The music is light and bouncy, the visuals are bright and colourful, and there's plenty of humour in the way units animate. I can't describe in enough detail just how happy it makes me to finally have a full-featured shooter game that is bright and pleasant; though I have no particular problem with serious and grim shooters, it's nice to have an option for when I'm in the mood for something happier.
