With endless runners typically pushing to be the fastest and most challenging games in the genre, Buddy & Me takes the exact opposite approach, and should appeal to a new audience looking for a more serene experience.

For the die-hard Marvel fan, the annoyances will be worth pushing through. The puzzle combat is still immensely fun and the storyline loosely follows the Dark Reign plot from the comics, including fights against and alongside the Dark Avengers. The leveling structure is a sticking point that makes the superheroes feel a lot less super, but as fanservice goes, Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign is better than most.

Beyond: Two Souls is one of the most poignant and enthralling stories we have encountered in a video game, capable of stirring up the same depth of emotion as great works from the mediums of film and literature.

Off-field issues remain PES 2014's biggest problem, lacking that one killer game mode needed to overtake its main rival. However, the action on the pitch is the best it's ever been, rivalling and arguably surpassing that of FIFA, and setting up a tasty next-generation battle going forward.

Like Ocarina of Time before it on 3DS, Nintendo once again proves that it has a deft hand at reviving its classics, preserving their timeless essence while making them easier than ever to revisit for new and old audiences alike.

Giant Boulder of Death is just pure silly fun, and well worth a download for a cathartic burst of destruction after a stressful day.

Heroes of Loot offers blazing fast action but doesn't overstay its welcome, with each game typically lasting only a few minutes. Death may be frequent, but each one only leaves you eager to dive right back in again to try and reach deeper floors and uncover new treasures.

With the game constantly forcing you to stop playing, eventually you'll find that it isn't even worth coming back to anymore. No matter how fun the puzzles may be, they're only fun so long as you can play them, and Where's My Water? 2 makes every effort to avoid being played.

With a great cast, a huge list of missions and activities, some novel new gameplay additions and one of the most stunning environments we've ever explored, Grand Theft Auto 5 is a masterpiece and a hugely impressive technological achievement.

Farming Simulator 2013 is unintentionally entertaining at times, providing retrospective moments of amusement with its dodgy physics and tedious activities. But while it may capture the long, gruelling process of maintaining a farm, it doesn't do enough to maintain your attention.

Puppeteer may not be perfect, but it's easy to forgive any minor gameplay transgressions when you have a title as beautiful and entertaining as this. Overshadowed though it may turn out to be, Puppeteer is worthy of a standing ovation.

The aiming controls are a little finicky in first-person mode, and the tactical view is limited in the types of commands you can give, so neither option would have really been strong enough to carry the game alone. But when combined and given the option to switch between them at will, Call of Duty: Strike Team finds a balance that offers the spectacle you'd expect from the series in a way that feels natural on a smartphone or tablet.

2K Drive is still rough around the edges in spots, most notably with its controls, but given some time for refinements 2K Drive could give other mobile racing games a run for their money in its next iteration.

The one saving grace is that die-hard Star Wars fanatics can collect cards of all their favorite characters, even the more obscure ones like each individual alien from A New Hope's cantina scene. But even that novelty isn't enough to make Star Wars: Force Collection worthwhile to suffer through the insultingly unintuitive menus and boring, non-interactive card battles. It's a free download, but even then it's overpriced.

Ultimately Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is a beautifully atmospheric experience and one which manages to stay creepy all the way through, if not scary. It can get bogged down in its own themes at points, leading to a final third, whose society-wide commentary is difficult to invest in or connect with, but when there's a lightness of touch it works splendidly.

Diablo 3 was always going to be a great fit for console given its intuitive and infectious gameplay, but Blizzard deserves plaudits for the skill with which it has handled the porting process.
