Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is a very special RPG. It’s not only a jaw-droppingly gorgeous technical marvel, or a terrific and surprisingly grounded, relatable high-fantasy narrative, but it’s also an action-RPG with sublime, satisfying combat. It ticks all the boxes an RPG fan could want, and then some. It’s a genre masterpiece.

Top echelon storytelling, new gameplay mechanics, vast and beautiful landscapes, and a superbly designed multiplayer, has soared Halo 5: Guardians to my favorite in the series.

I easily score this game 10/10, it is incredibly good and I’ve even stopped playing Street Fighter 5 and Far Cry Primal to sink more hours into this game because it’s easy to play, the only weak link is the person playing which is a horrible mix of frustration and pleasure as you strive to do better with each passing game.

It is a real-time strategy gem that is complex enough to make me feel similarly strategically engaged as any title of the Total War series, yet simple enough so I don’t have to read a 40 page manual before I can win my first game in multiplayer. The game does not exceed in any aspect of game development, but combines all the different disciplines of making games so well and so convincingly, that for this, I give my first 10/10 rating.

It took Playdead almost six years to put out their follow-up to Limbo, and that time certainly was put to good use. It’s world is simultaneously macabre and filled with heart.

From the puzzles reflecting ideas, concepts, and even past conversations to the optional rooms requiring lateral thinking that is brought up several sectors after the room that needs it, The Turing Test truly will test you.

Overall I am completely satisfied with Doom. So far it has been my favourite third party AAA game of this console generation. I can’t remember being this impressed with a first person shooter since BioShock Infinite, and even then I think I prefer this one.

Full Moon Rampage is a twin stick shooter, with rogue like tendencies, and even a smidgen of RPG mechanics, thrown in a boiling pot of Voodoo magic goodness. Over The Top Games have released, what could be the Indie game of the year. Maybe of all time for the Xbox One console. You see, when you have a game that takes the previously mentioned ingredients, and mix them together on a low heat, cooking them to perfection, you create Full Mojo Rampage.

The potential for what this level editor can create is huge. It’s an amazing tool for anyone who fancies trying their hand at level design, and I’ve had the opportunity to play some truly stunning stages from users around the world as a result of it.

This isn’t a game for everybody. It’s brutally difficult and requires incredible patience and lateral thinking. However for puzzle aficionados interested in a casual but challenging experience, Stephen’s Sausage Roll is one of the best puzzlers available.

Even with the marginally sour taste left in my mouth after visiting the extensive marketplace, it’s still one of the best multiplayer games I’ve played on the Xbox.

I loved everything about The Bug Butcher. I have been looking and looking for a fun, simple game that I can play to kill time. Most games that come out nowadays that you can play to kill time blow. Sometimes I don’t want to play a game that is gonna take me hours to get into or is too complicated.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is quite simply a fantastic game and is one of my favourite games in recent times. I would highly recommend playing this version of the game if you played the original and if you haven’t played Ori and the blind Forest yet then now is the perfect time to experience it at its best.

Dino Run DX is a unique side-scroller that brings the simple 1980’s mechanics to modern 8-bit gaming. With such a huge range of content, customization, statistics and creativity from the developers, players will spend tens of hours escaping extinction as this prehistoric themed side-scroller delivers a unique game experience through solid mechanics, lasting content and 8-bit nostalgia.
