  1. As lovely as it sometimes is, what this film needs is a little more shape and a little less ambience.
  2. Even some third-act deus ex machina scrambling can't homogenize the film's darkly cynical punch. Tough as nails and twice as hilarious, it's a remedy for summer treacle.
