Unfortunately, its overall presentation was rather lacking and mental addition while swiping a finger on a dull-looking screen can get boring after a while.

Glorkian Warrior is irritating but is strangely satisfying to play at the same time.

Along with the ability to swap your gunfighters in the middle of combat and a seemingly endless achievement-based system, Pocket Gunfighters should have been a can’t miss title. With treasure chests to discover, gold coins to grab and villains to eliminate with a quick finger swipe, this app still has me hooked even with its gaping freemium flaw. It’s a compromise I’m willing to make, but it’s still disappointing that this app isn’t more than just a charming little dog and pony show.

Not everyone is going to enjoy Surgeon Simulator’s comedically clunky gameplay. For those with a bit of patience, you’ll get a game that will make you laugh, groan and repeatedly murder your patients in a variety of malpractice-y ways.

Tanglers Blitz is an innocuous and mildly entertaining app that, in the end, is also easily forgettable. It’s a worthy enough download since it’s free, but don’t once the ads stop popping up on your device, you may want to leave these aliens behind and let someone else do all the work.

Nevertheless, Eets Munchies remains a decent entry to the puzzle genre and its charming presentation provide a much needed cover to its lackadaisical gameplay.

Ultimately, Mines of Mars provides an experience that expands well beyond the average iOS title that is almost on par with the higher end of indie, PC gaming quality.

For just $0.99, this app offers up a ton of action for a minimal price.

God of Light is a total keeper, and don’t be surprised if the Source of Life is a portal you’ll continue to tap into.

Beyond Space is a gorgeous, competent and engaging space shooter that fans of Wing Commander and old space fighter simulators will love.

It’s a worthy download for the puzzle-solving treasure hunter in all of us.

While Out There is indisputably a well-crafted game, it’s also a game designed to cater to a specific crowd. Its harsh, survival-oriented gameplay harkens back to PC games of old, and though there are a number of choices which hamper the title’s replayability, it’s still a uniquely memorable experience which will provide countless hours of fun for gamers who don’t mind frequently failing at a slow pace.

Another Case Solved is an engaging puzzler that also doesn’t go for the money grab within the first 20 minutes of action.

My Coldfire Keep experience had its share of highs and lows due to the game’s horrific double tap flaws. Now that the issue has been resolved, my dungeon crawling days will continue in this kingdom. Hopefully the only further bugs will die by my sword and not from a future App store update.

Ava’s Quest is a little rough around the edges, but it’s still lots of fun to play.

Unfortunately, The Tribez & Castlez undermines a potentially great experience by forcing you to buy in-game currency with real money or to wait for excessive cooldowns to progress through the game at a snail’s pace.

By implementing a strategical base and a distinct environment as its backdrop, Word Puttz is a worthy addition to the puzzle genre. It’s not the most visually ambitious app to enter the iOS universe, but sometimes words, and a little prodding from a bespectacled octopus, are all that matters.

Some throwbacks don’t have to thrive on pure nostalgia, and thankfully R-Type II is a shooter that keeps all its guns firing on all cylinders.

Overall, World of Gibbets is a strange little physics puzzle game that is slightly creepier than it first appears. It has a decent number of levels that are cleverly built, but it doesn’t do quite enough to set itself apart from the rest.

We hope you’re in it for the long haul, because Episode 1 can take a very long time to complete, depending on how adept you are at solving puzzles in adventure games. Suffice it to say that you’ll be getting every dollar’s worth and more with this installment of The Serpent’s Curse.

Deadman’s Cross may technically be free-to-play, but it will cost you precious minutes and hours that would be better spent doing damn near anything.
