While this isn’t the most fast-paced title on the app store, its colorful artwork, easy difficulty curve and large amount of content make Blowfish Meets Meteor a good choice for anyone looking to kill some time by bouncing a ball into bricks.

Unfortunately, these mutants are high maintenance, and unless you’re in the mood for burning a hole through your wallet, I’d find another group of warriors to battle with.

This is one tale that is better off untold.

With combat that’s fast-paced, yet thoughtful, extensive customization and upgrade options, lengthy campaigns, and a generous approach to free-to-play, CastleStorm: Free to Siege has turned out to be one heck of a title, one well worth the time of anyone in the mood for some finger-blazingly frenetic action.

If you’re into strategy based titles filled with upgrade and customization choices, Tales of Honor: The Secret Fleet is a highly recommended download.

Crescent Moon Games adds a few neat and new features to the endless runner genre, but doesn’t quite execute them to their greatest potential, leaving Gear Jack Black Hole as a somewhat solid, but ultimately unremarkable endless runner.

A bizarre marriage of tower defense, real-time strategy and 2D shoot ‘em up action, Metal Slug Defense is like Kingdom Hearts— a blend of disparate things that somehow manages to work.

Jungle Rumble’s strong, rhythmic core and marvelous visual presentation help it stand out from the crowded iOS jungle, but its basic gameplay and lack of depth wrap vines around it and drag it back down to the jungle floor, leaving us with a game that’s a little above average, but a little short of being truly great.

At the cost of nothing up-front, however, Horde of Heroes still makes for a fun offering for anyone craving something a bit different, and who doesn’t mind a little shallowness.

Since 9 Elefants is $2.99 to download, I expected a bit more of an addictive experience. Instead, I solved a few puzzles, checked out a few pretty pictures of Paris and had a decent enough time. For a free to play title, that’s all fine and dandy. But when money is involved, the puzzles take on an entirely different meaning.

It isn’t perfect, but for anyone who likes action-RPGs or a worthy challenge, Wayward Souls is a solid choice.

Third Eye Crime might not do much different or new, but it does it right. That’s all that matters.

If episode one of Isolani had a bit more variety to its gameplay, this title would continue to pull me in.

With a very apparent lack of any flair or no fighting animations, Yomi remains a methodical, thought-provoking card game at its core — it’s just that there isn’t anything else to really keep you coming back for more.

The gameplay is designed to spur you on and strive to beat your previous score. It’s a lot of fun, but just be careful not to bash your head into the wall or snap your device in half when you crash into obstacles, because that is going to happen — like, a lot.

Coupled with varied and exciting gameplay, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a first rate experience that should please most Spidey fans.

Where’s My Water? Featuring XYY is a great addition to this light-hearted puzzle franchise.

Hitman Go takes the boiled-down essence of the stealth genre and brilliantly translates it into a mobile puzzler that’s easy on the eyes and challenging on the brain.

It’s fantastic, fun and highly addictive, and there’s no reason you shouldn’t be playing Hearthstone right now.

Ultimately, Wind-up Knight 2 feels like an optimized version of the first title, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

If you’re a Trials fan looking for a solid mobile package, then get this game. If you want a fuller experience, then you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff is off to a great start and as a free to play title it has tons of game play to offer without even spending a nickel.

This is an absolutely gorgeous game that must be experienced by anyone with an iOS device.

Warhammer 40K: Storm of Vengeance is a completely serviceable title, and if it was a free-to-play experience with the DLCs serving as one of its premium packages, then I’d totally be on board with this app.

Although Zombie Stampede can be a enjoyed as a simple touch and tap shooter, but it also brings an extra level of nuance with its card character elements and nuanced upgrade systems.

FTL: Faster Than Light proved to be a hit on the PC, with its massive replayability, intelligently-designed gameplay and minimalist interface, and those same qualities are what make it a success on iOS as well.

Star Wars fanatics will love the music, sound effects and enemy models of Star Wars: Assault Team, but will scratch their heads at who their favorite characters are partied with. Nevertheless, Assault Team’s combat system and presentation are engaging and fun enough to shroud most players from realizing how pointless its story missions are.

Still, you’re getting a hell of a deal for only $2.99, so I cannot recommend Captain America: The Winter Soldier – The Official Game enough, especially if you’re a fan of the comics or the movies
