I'd been looking forward to Dandara ever since trying it out almost a year ago, so I'm ecstatic that it's finally available. It's proven to be well worth the wait too, because this game is superb in every aspect. The visual style is gorgeous, the sound is delightful, controls are intuitive and streamlined, and the mechanic is different but satisfying. I know it's early on in the year, but this is a contender for game of the year for me.

As a big fan of Rauers’ other two card games, I am in love with what Miracle Merchant has to offer. The game shows off the distinctive visual style of the developer, and the sound design is well done. The tutorial explains all of the basics to you in a simple-to-understand manner, but the gameplay itself is challenging and requires some thought. There’s a ton of possible combinations of potions to discover and serve, and the goals keep everything fresh. I’ve just started playing Miracle Merchant since it was released last night, but I’m having a hard time putting it down. It’s just that good. I highly recommend grabbing Miracle Merchant if you’re a fan of Card Crawl, Card Thief, or just want some unique solitaire-style card game fun on your iOS device.

I'm enjoying Cytus II a lot so far, and it's definitely my new favorite musical rhythm game. I'm in love with the anime art style, and the music is quirky, upbeat, and catchy. The game's tutorial is helpful in terms of showing you what to do with each note type, and controls are simple. I recommend playing with your device on a table or other flat surface, so it's easier to see upcoming notes without your hands blocking your view. I just wish that the price for the other two characters were cheaper.

As a fan of twitch reflex arcade games and platformers, Hoppenhelm is a nice mix of both. I'm in love with the graphics and chiptunes, as they make me feel like a kid again. The one-touch controls make the game easily accessible for anyone with a touch screen, but the challenging gameplay and unlockable content keeps you coming back for more.

The game has a lot of replay value with the amount of content, and always having a fresh new experience is satisfying. As someone who grew up with classic games, I love the vintage pixel art style, and the chiptunes are amazing. Controls are simple and easy to learn, and the game is fairly challenging but still accessible to everyone. It’s definitely a game to have if you’re a roguelike RPG fan.

Like many, I am a big fan of the first Super Phantom Cat, so I'm glad to see the sequel finally available on the App Store. Despite the free-to-play route that the developers decided to take, I still find the game fun to play, and it's rather challenging. Plus, I'm in love with the graphics and delightful music, and I can't resist a game full of sweet kitties. After trying the game out, I think it's worth plopping down a few bucks to get rid of the energy system and ads for a more enjoyable experience.

As someone who loves a bit of dark humor and puzzles, Death Coming is just perfect and right up my alley. The graphics are visually impressive with the modernized pixel art, and the sound design is fun to listen to. It's also worth taking the time to read Death's quips to your character, because who knew Death could have a sense of humor anyway? The puzzles themselves are challenging, and the Final Destination style accidents are downright entertaining.

Kalimba is perfect for sitting down with and enjoying a longer play session. And as a fan of beautiful aesthetics, I will enjoy every minute of playing it. The music is zen-like, and the controls are super responsive. The levels are pretty lengthy, and you get a lot of content for your money, so the value is there. Kalimba is definitely one that shouldn’t be missed.

I’ve been a big bullet hell shmup fan, so DU3 is a welcome addition to my game collection. The visuals are gorgeous and polished, and the music is amazingly fun to listen to. As I’m familiar with the genre already, I just dove right in to the game without viewing the tutorial first, but I still recommend checking it for an explanation of all game mechanics. The customization of your ship, multiple modes and difficulty levels, and bonuses just give this game a ton of replay value. For the price, you totally get your money’s worth here.

I fell in love with Cat Quest when I first got to see a demo, and I still can’t get enough now that it’s officially out. I bought this title the moment I saw it on the App Store, and have not regretted my purchase. The visuals are superb and the music is fun. The controls work well, though could be better optimized, and the gameplay is addicting. There’s a lot of loot to discover, and it’s just fun to take out foes and grind for better magical spells. The quest system works, allowing you to either go on with the main story or be a completionist with side missions. Regardless of how you approach it, Cat Quest is a fun adventure that will keep you coming back for more. Plus, who doesn’t love cats and puns?

As a big fan of music and puzzle games, I am in love with Resynth. The game’s minimalist aesthetic is just what I like to see in mobile games, and the colors are fantastic. The synth-pop and electronic tracks and sound effects are delightful to my ears. I can see myself playing this for a while just because of the music. Controls are easy to follow, and overall, the game mechanic and concept is straightforward. I believe that the additional level packs are well worth the dollar, and I hope to see even more content sooner rather than later. And having iCloud game saves is great, because I’ll never lose my progress when I move between iOS devices.

Glowish is a fantastic brain teaser puzzle that I've fallen in love with over the past few days. The design is bubbly and cute, and the music is soothing. While there's no tutorial to show you how to play, it's not needed and fairly straightforward. The puzzles definitely make me think, and having randomly generated ones is a nice addition. As a big fan of puzzle games, Glowish is one that I'll be returning to time and time again for some relaxation time.

Overall, as a bullet hell shmup fan who misses CAVE games, this is a great addition to my collection. The visuals are super polished and look amazing on my Retina HD screen, and the music is downright fun. Controls are easy to learn and can be customized if needed, but it's friendly enough for even newbies. The concept of bombing instead of dodging to survive is interesting and unique, making AKA TO BLUE stand out from the competition. It's challenging, and has high replay value. This is definitely a title that won't disappoint bullet hell fans.

Even though I’ve only spent a short time with Pigeon Wings so far, I am in love. The graphics look fantastic on Retina screens, and the music is a delight to hear. Usually I’m not a fan of gyroscope controls, but the way they’re implemented in Pigeon Wings is flawless, and it didn’t take that long for me to get used to them. They feel natural and intuitive, along with the button positioning. The gameplay itself is fast but doable, and while you die a lot, there’s plenty of reason to keep coming back. Plus, how can anyone resist a game where a pigeon is all that stands between a city and total annihilation?

I only found Part Time UFO by chance, but I'm so glad I did. The graphics are sweet and enchanting, the sound design is amazing, and the controls are responsive. It does take some practice to master the physics sometimes, but it's still enjoyable. Plus, playing dress up is fun and gives you some useful abilities.

I loved the original Trick Shot, so naturally I'm not disappointed with Trick Shot 2. The game ups the ante in terms of excellent visual design, the music is enjoyable, and the controls are easy to pick up. You get a lot of value for your money, considering that there's a ton of levels included as well as many new user-created ones to check out, and you can make your own. Just be prepared for a challenge — some of these are tricky, but it's a perfect game to play on-the-go.

Umiro is a gorgeous game with an amazing soundtrack, and it was all crafted with care by the developers. The puzzles are challenging, but once you solve one you've been stuck on, then it just becomes even more satisfying. The base goal is easy enough, but adding in the optional yellow crystals mean completionists have something more to strive for, and it reveals even more about the colorless world. It's a nice bonus to look forward to.

Vandals is definitely a new puzzle favorite of mine. I love these types of games, and Vandals is challenging while looking and sounding amazing. Controls are simple, and you can play the game in whatever position is most comfortable for you. I just hope to see faster menu and scene transitions, because it does get annoying after a while. Still, Vandals is an excellent turn-based stealth puzzler that encourages you to get a little artsy.

As a big puzzle lover, Dissembler may be my new favorite for the time being. I love the simple and clean graphics, the music is charming, and the gameplay is fun and challenging. I also like the fact that there are no in-app purchases, and the game even lets you unlock all of the puzzles so you can go through them all at your own pace. I just hope to see more color palettes added in future updates, just to add some variety.

Space Cycler is not a new game, but it was recently released and a nice surprise for me on the App Store. I love distinctive graphics that separate games from the rest of the pack, and Space Cycler has that. The music and sound are fun too, and the intuitive controls work well for one-handed play. The stages are challenging, and I can definitely see myself playing this for a while, especially with the co-op.

As a platformer fan, I love Oddmar. The game is visually amazing, and the music is top notch. Controls are nice once you find your preferred setting, and the gameplay is challenging. It's all rather humorous too, which makes it even more charming. And while there are only 24 levels right now, it will take some time to get through them all considering the length, as well as the hidden secrets to collect. Oh, and there are Dream levels to finish too, so the replay value is high.

For a free game, Ava Airborne is pretty good. I love the fun visuals, the sound is awesome, and the gameplay is challenging but keeps you coming back for more. I'm a fan of endless games that do things differently from the rest, and Ava Airborne is one of them. The game is great for a free title, and even though there are ads, they're completely optional, which is nice. This is definitely one of those games I'll be coming back to whenever I have a spare moment throughout the day.

Alike Studio had a hit on their hands with Love You To Bits, and they definitely have created another gem with Bring You Home. The game's cute cartoon-style graphics are sweet and lovable, while the soundtrack tugs at your emotional heartstrings. Controls are intuitive, and it's just fun to watch the outcome of each possible path that you create. This is a true gem for puzzle fans.

The game looks breathtaking, especially if you appreciate minimalistic vector graphics, and the music is a joy to listen to. As a fan of Metroidvania games, I’m sad to see the lack of them in the App Store, so forma.8 GO is a pleasant surprise in recent weeks. I’m a bit surprised at how big the map is, and the controls require a bit of practice to get the hang of things, but it just feels right after you get used to it. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the game, and I look forward to playing it even more when I have the opportunity to do so.

I downloaded Flipping Legend as soon as it was available on the App Store, and I have had a hard time putting it down, honestly. I love voxel graphics, and Flipping Legend has done them beautifully. The music is pretty catchy as well, and I like how it is an integral part of the gameplay. Controls are simple to pick up, but getting the rhythm perfectly will take some time. There is a lot of goals to accomplish that keep the game feeling fresh, and the difficulty of the game means there’s plenty of reason to keep coming back as you try and beat your previous best score. Overall, Flipping Legend is a fantastic high score chaser that is worth a download.

When I first saw Million Onion Hotel, I was intrigued by the screenshots, but didn't know what to expect from it in terms of gameplay. Now that I've spent my morning playing the game, I have to say that I'm impressed. As someone who grew up with classic pixel art games, the visuals bring back a sense of nostalgia with me, and the sounds are rather satisfying. After my first round in the game, I seriously said what is going on in this game? out loud. Not many games make me say that, so kudos. But I still find myself returning, because it's just fun. This is one of those games that I'll be returning to time and time again, for sure.

Since this is my first Layton game, I do not have previous knowledge of the series before I dove into this one. However, as a complete newbie, I’m enjoying it highly so far. The puzzles are a bit tricky but do make me think. The visual style and animations look fantastic. Even as a newcomer, I’m finding the characters to be full of fun and charm. I found the story captivating and immersive from the get-go too, which doesn’t always happen.

As someone who loves puzzles and interesting mashups, Laps - Fuse definitely fits the bill. The game features an awesome aesthetic, the music gets the blood pumping, and the gameplay mechanics are different enough to make the game stand out on its own. Controls take a bit of getting used to but work well in the end. And as far as replay value goes, Star Vikings Forever has a ton of it, so you get your moneys worth. I love games that help me take a load off after a long day, and FROST does exactly that. The graphics are top notch quality and show off what our iDevices are capable of. The music and sounds help put your mind at ease and focus on figuring out the puzzles, which can be challenging later on. Controls are cleverly designed and intuitive for the platform. There's plenty of content for the price, and this is one game that you'll find hard to put down once you get going.
