I've been looking forward to Meteorfall for months, and I'm so glad that's finally arrived. The game is challenging and addictive, and holds a lot of replay value. Plus, the distinctive cartoon style visuals are delightful, and the sound design is excellent. Meteorfall is complex enough to require planning and strategy, but it's also quite accessible to anyone. This is definitely a game I'm keeping around for a while.

Tiny Bubbles is a welcome addition to my ever-growing collection of iPhone puzzle games. I'm in love with the unique visual style and sound design. The gameplay is interesting since it combines Tetris-like mechanics with physics puzzles, and knowing your color combinations is a true test. I just wish endless mode was truly endless, but the rest of the game is top notch.

I downloaded Flipping Legend as soon as it was available on the App Store, and I have had a hard time putting it down, honestly. I love voxel graphics, and Flipping Legend has done them beautifully. The music is pretty catchy as well, and I like how it is an integral part of the gameplay. Controls are simple to pick up, but getting the rhythm perfectly will take some time. There is a lot of goals to accomplish that keep the game feeling fresh, and the difficulty of the game means there’s plenty of reason to keep coming back as you try and beat your previous best score. Overall, Flipping Legend is a fantastic high score chaser that is worth a download.

Aside from the clunky controls, Death Road to Canada is an enjoyable title that offers plenty of replay value. The retro pixel art graphics bring a smile to your face, the music and sound effects are awesome, and the gameplay is rather challenging. Believe me — you will be dying a lot in this game, but it doesn’t get tiring because each attempt brings a fresh new set of characters and events to encounter, and hey, who doesn’t like to bash in zombie hordes?

As a fan of Brough's other games, I think Cinco Paus is another great hidden gem from him that I'm happy to have in my collection. The distinctive art style makes me think of obscure adult swim cartoons, and I think the experimental approach with Portuguese is a fascinating perspective on language barriers in games. The gameplay itself is easy to pick up and learn after a few tries, and I enjoy the fact that each staff has a new set of properties in each game. It keeps you on your toes and you must try them all out in the first level to know and understand what their properties are. On top of that, there are a lot of other things in the game to learn as you play, such as enemy behaviors and what items do.

I fell in love with Cat Quest when I first got to see a demo, and I still can’t get enough now that it’s officially out. I bought this title the moment I saw it on the App Store, and have not regretted my purchase. The visuals are superb and the music is fun. The controls work well, though could be better optimized, and the gameplay is addicting. There’s a lot of loot to discover, and it’s just fun to take out foes and grind for better magical spells. The quest system works, allowing you to either go on with the main story or be a completionist with side missions. While I’m not a huge horror movie fanatic, the game is still incredibly enjoyable. I love the graphics, the music is amazing, the dialogue for kill scenes is hilarious, the Gorepacks are fun to watch, and the puzzles themselves are challenging. The best thing about the game is the fact that there are no in-app purchases, so even though getting all killers and Gorepacks is expensive, it’s great that you can’t just buy your coins to get them before other people. It keeps players coming back for more gory horror movie fun while earning coins to get optional collectible content. And while I prefer to keep the game in R-mode, it’s nice that they included a less bloody PG-mode to keep even the squeamish satisfied.

As a big fan of Rauers’ other two card games, I am in love with what Miracle Merchant has to offer. The game shows off the distinctive visual style of the developer, and the sound design is well done. The tutorial explains all of the basics to you in a simple-to-understand manner, but the gameplay itself is challenging and requires some thought. There’s a ton of possible combinations of potions to discover and serve, and the goals keep everything fresh. I’ve just started playing Miracle Merchant since it was released last night, but I’m having a hard time putting it down. It’s just that good. The mashup of match-three puzzle RPG and tactical strategy works out incredibly well, and the game is challenging with high replay value. The variety in mission objectives also offers up something new for each mission, so it’s not always the same thing for every level. And for what it’s worth, the RPG aspect of the game, in terms of character skills and upgrades, is surprisingly in-depth.
