Don't get me wrong, I love building my weapons up from scratch, but I'd have sacrificed the depth of customisation for better, more open-ended gameplay.

Even if you dislike RPGs, I know you'll appreciate the expansive, ever-changing gaming world of Cyrodiil - and you're bound to find a guild and a class that suits your playing style too, whatever that may be.

It could have been much better if there was more freedom to the art of cooking, a more challenging single player structure and - most importantly - responsive and involving controls that actually give you the feeling of slicing, dicing, mincing and everything else.

This game will ruin Bejeweled for you forever, because you will be longing for some consequences beyond just getting points. You will also quickly descend into 'just one more turn' territory until you make your way to the end, which will take dozens of hours.

Stands on its own as a weird hybrid between RPG and puzzle games. Although the morphing process is not without its flaws, the final result is highly interesting.

If you're looking for an enjoyable hack-and-slash epic to relieve a little tension running quests for idle NPCs and nailing Zombie Trolls with a 90lb Mechanical Warhammer for an ultimately fairly hollow reward then this may just be the game you're looking for.

The Don should have done us all a favor and brought this game out for a budget price, because no matter how great the gameplay continues to be, yet another port of a game that has its mind and eyes clearly focused on 2005 makes for a poor excuse of a full-priced, next-generation title.

The motion controls add of the Blackhand Edition are a nice touch that provide the Wii with something exclusive, and they do add extra interaction into the gameplay, once you've got the hang of them.

The animations are also really fluid and collisions look very natural, an area where Pro Evo is lacking.

The free flowing, goal stuffed fantasy matches are a long way from the often cautious, stop start nature of many real European encounters, and for this reason UEFA are probably more than happy with the finished product.

There's enough variety and accessibility in here to appeal to football 'noobs', while the depth of the management and the addictive nature of the matches should satisfy anyone who's played Pro Evo and/or FIFA to death and is still thirsty for more.

Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai 2 is a game that's geared towards fans of the TV series, rather than a wider audience.

Although it isn't for everyone, this DS version should definitely be snapped up by those who enjoy games that require a bit of thought and time investment, as well as by those who like to show off their creativity.

It is limited in scope, but this makes it perfect for those with limited experience with similar products or gamers who are looking for a more casual baseball management title, while also making it a difficult recommendation for the more ambitious player.

Despite the issues I mentioned, I had a blast playing Top Spin 2 - and so did my kids!

Herbie Rescue Rally might entertain the kids for a bit, but they'll likely grow frustrated with the collisions and rather boring tracks that fail to deliver the excitement promised by the packaging.

Upbeat, well-developed, clever, taxing and enjoyable, Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle should evoke one of those little impulses you won't be able to resist until you've played it to completion.

While hardly resembling the game that could do not wrong from my childhood, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Classic Arcade Game still stands as an enjoyable piece of Eighties gaming lore, but without a warm jacket of nostalgic feelings it will appear outdated and boring, lacking present day sensibilities.

It's a game that has everything.

The absence of a storyline to get you invested with the characters, the lacklustre gameplay and the limited controls pull the gameplay down so much that it's impossible to reproduce the quality of its kindred on other platforms.

As a one player game it's filled to the brim with awkward controls and badly conceived gameplay, as a multiplayer title you may be able to convince a friend to take part in a few rounds, but don't expect them to thank you for it afterwards.

Even if you never touch the new maps or vehicles or game modes (which you will), the skill advancements and extra items for each specialization alone are a tremendous reward that is available for the standard game modes and maps. What this doesn't do is address any core technical issues with the game.

There's clearly talent behind the game, producing quality visuals and a technically impressive and bug-free experience. The plot and characters are dull and lifeless however, and there's nothing here to draw you into the world and make you want to stay.

It's a relentless, addictive yet difficult to master arcade game that epitomises everything that was fun about the classic games it takes its inspiration from - it's easy to pick up yet hard to put down and the perfect game to lose a few spare minutes in.

Now, I won't lie to you: I wanted to rip this game to pieces! However, while Carol Vorderman's Sudoku is essentially a certified lesson in chronic needlessness and boasts aesthetic values on a par with a can of corned beef, it still does everything it promises to do - it provides a good, solid game of Sudoku, comprising almost endless puzzles for players of all skill levels, with plenty of different modes, going above and beyond the call of duty in that respect, providing game types and even multiplayer modes that you won't see in other Sudoku games.

Its career mode is a short experience and the graphics and sound doesn't push the PS3 to its limits; even the gameplay has some frustrating features, but the innovation and entertainment for those who persevere through the learning curve and mundane early matches using rubbish players more than make up for that.

Spectrobes works perfectly for what it is, tapping into that primal collecting gene we all share at some point in our lives. Cliché-filled story and characters aside, the kids this one is made for will eat it up like free ice cream at a birthday party and come back for seconds with a clean plate.

There are some minor drawbacks, but with its innovative fighting style, thumping tracks and visual excellence, Def Jam: Icon offers some fresh new school flava that you really have to savour with your neighbour.
