The game sticks to its roots but has dropped the dead leaves and found some new flowers to make a big enough change for it to be inviting to both newcomers and long-time fans of the series.

Soul Nomad & The World Eaters isn't perfect, but it's an endlessly enjoyable game for fans of the strategy RPG.

Fight Night Round 4 manages to deliver boxers and fights so convincing that they're realer than Evander 'The Real Deal' Holyfield, and at almost every point where the game could have become shallow and repetitive, its subtleties shine through to such an extent that you don't need to look at any other real world fighting games to find the greatest - the champ is undoubtedly here.

Dead Space 2 is unlikely to win any prizes for originality and, as a result, despite all the chaos and terror on screen it feels like a very safe sequel. It's still one though that will frequently leave you gasping for breath and, on more than one occasion, take it away; a game that, like the body of a dismembered Necromorph, is the result of some precision execution.

Zeno Clash is a sterling example of how to make a game. Graphics, sound and gameplay merge perfectly to make this more of an experience than just a game.

Viewtiful Joe 2 is as big a triumph as the original, resisting the urge to change a winning formula but building on it with even cooler settings, funnier bosses, more variety in the gameplay and a cool new way to manipulate time.

Beyond Good & Evil is a gaming masterpiece, blending together light combat, stealth, platform action, puzzle solving and racing to form a compelling gameplay mix, tied together with a terrific story and wrapped up in gorgeous visuals and audio.

I can't see many people disliking this classic gangster romp, which delivers the authentic mob feeling we've been after ever since "GTA III."

It's eye-candy from start to finish - sometimes you forget you're playing a game and feel like you're controlling the outcome of a blockbuster film instead. The boss battles are some of the best I've experienced, the graphics are some of the best I've seen, the musical score will make every game I review after this one pale in comparison and the unique gameplay will be something that I miss when I finally have to put this gem down.

UNO is fast, pretty, and incredibly user-friendly.

It's not just the best movie-licensed game ever, but one of the best single player first person shooter adventures ever.

There is no need to attempt to cater to tastes when a game is this well put together. After the relative disappointment of Neowave and the simply appalling 3D Maximum Impact series, SNK: Playmore have finally come good with one of the finest 2D fighters around. For the time being at least FIFA 10 is The Special One.

Capcom have achieved that great feat of managing to shed off the problems of the past without forgetting how they came to be here and the result is not only a joy to play but, compared to previous titles, is almost epic in length and introduces extra missions and weapons after the first time through that enhance the replay value even further.

Everybody's Golf is my favourite PSP game so far and I've played Wipeout Pure, Lumines, Ridge Racer, Burnout Legends, Virtua Tennis, World Snooker Challenge 2005 and Tiger Woods, so that's a pretty high recommendation.

Perhaps Soul Calibur III was developed with the hardcore, technical players in mind who do memorise everything and for them the game will be a dream come true.
