The Worst New TV Shows of 2017
What were the biggest television duds of the past year? Above are the lowest-scoring first-year primetime TV series debuting in the United States between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. Shows are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades from top professional critics on a 0-100 scale) prior to rounding, and any programs with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded.
(#8) One of three similar-seeming military procedurals to debut on various networks this fall, Valor stood out only by being the worst of the bunch. It also didn't seem to fit in with its network's mix of superhero/genre shows and rom-coms. The drama hasn't technically been canceled yet, but the CW declined to extend the season beyond its original 13-episode order.
“It ricochets between Homeland-like sequences of POW interrogations, pop-music-scored sex scenes and bureaucratic squabbles. None of it fits together, and none of it is particularly compelling on its own.” —Kelly Lawler, USA Today
