The Worst New TV Shows of 2020
What were the biggest television duds of the past year? Above are the lowest-scoring first-year primetime TV series (including limited series and specials) debuting in the United States between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Shows are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades from top professional critics on a 0-100 scale) prior to rounding based on scores from December 19, 2020, and must have at least 4 reviews from professional critics to qualify.
Not to be confused with the aforementioned Indebted—apparently, multiple networks found financial hardship to be hilarious this year—this one-and-done CBS sitcom centered on an "outrageously wealthy trust fund baby" (Jaime Camil) who, suddenly cut off by his father and lacking money or a home, moves with his wife (Natasha Leggero) into the house of her estranged sister (Pauley Perrette) in the San Fernando Valley. And that is probably all you need to know about the show.
“Broke is anti-escapism television when we need a mental holiday the most; despite its ham-fisted multi-camera sitcom set-up, it's too real... and then it adds a laugh track.” —Tim Surette, TV Guide
