(tied at #10) Another argument in favor of extending all copyrights indefinitely, as the A.V. Club suggests, The Lost Girls is an adaptation of a book by Laurie Fox that serves as an unofficial sequel to J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. Here, the story follows the original Wendy's young granddaughter (also named Wendy), who is visited by the still-boyish Peter Pan and taken to Neverland (or at least an extremely low-budget facsimile of Neverland). Three different actresses (including the film's director) play Wendy as she grows into an adult herself and deals with the aftermath of her adventures, but what actually happens to her along the way—and whether this is the "darker" take on Peter Pan it was sold as—is contingent upon actually understanding anything that is happening in the film. Critics? They were completely flummoxed.
