(#15) Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) wrote and directed this Netflix adaptation of the 2013 modern fairytale novel by Soman Chainani that stars (in addition to Sophia Anne Caruso and Sofia Wylie as its two young leads) Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Yeoh, Kerry Washington, Cate Blanchett, Ben Kingsley, Peter Serafinowicz, and Rob Delaney. So far, so good. So what went wrong? Just about everything, according to critics, who deemed it a campy, underdeveloped, and overstuffed Harry Potter knock-off that was a slog to sit through.
