The 15 Worst Movies of 2021
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 4 reviews are excluded. All scores are from December 24, 2021.
(#8) For his follow-up to his Academy Award-winning performance in The Father, Anthony Hopkins took third billing in the role of "The Mentor"—opposite Anson Mount's titular "The Virtuoso" and Abbie Cornish's "The Waitress" (hint: she's a waitress)—in this low-budget thriller about a professional assassin. Admittedly, 83-year-old actors aren't exactly swimming in offers, but The Virtuoso is especially tedious, unoriginal, and even pretentious, according to reviewers.
“It’s the sort of film that starts out bad and occasionally lapses into awful, largely thanks to a dull lead and the fact that the script has him narrating, in voice over, his every move in the second person. Read full review” —Roger Moore, Movie Nation
