The 15 Worst Movies of 2018
Updated January 3, 2019 to add late-arriving dud Holmes & Watson.
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded. All scores are from December 20, 2018.
(#6) Ed Helms stars as a professional audience-filler who gains sudden notoriety in this overly quirky "comedy" from Dito Montiel, adapted from his own novel. A prescient Gary Goldstein, writing in the January 25, 2018 edition of the L.A. Times, predicted, "It may be early in the year, but it’s a good bet 'The Clapper' will land among 2018’s worst films." Score one for Gary.
“Mashing limp romance and artless satire into a ludicrously contrived plot, The Clapper lurches from one mirthlessly eccentric scene to another.” —Jeannette Catsoulis, The New York Times
