The 15 Worst Movies of 2017
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded.
(#5) The first film directed by Ron Shelton (still best known for his 1988 debut Bull Durham) in 14 years is a geriatric action comedy starring Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones as a former mob lawyer and FBI agent, respectively, who team up to defeat the mafia at their Palm Springs retirement village. The film lived up to its title, in a way: it opened on over 2,000 screens about a month ago and completely disappeared from theaters just two weeks later.
“Abysmal, unfunny, and ultimately, completely unnecessary.” —Marc Savlov, Austin Chronicle
