(#3) Another actor turned director, Sean Penn has delivered solid work behind the camera in the past. But his latest is so inexplicably terrible that a Cannes audience literally laughed its way through a debut screening in 2016. (Hint: It's not a comedy.) The film sat on the shelf for over a year before finally reaching lucky moviegoers this past summer. Charlize Theron stars as a doctor and activist with a Doctors Without Borders-type organization who heads to Africa after a tragedy but spends the entire movie falling in love with Javier Bardem, who plays a man.
