The 15 Worst Movies of 2017
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded.
(#14) Yet another remake of a lackluster and mostly forgotten film that absolutely didn't need to be revived, this Flatliners comes from Girl With the Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev, but subs in actors like Ellen Page, Diego Luna, and Nina Dobrev for the original's A-list cast of Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, and Kevin Bacon. (Sutherland actually appears briefly in the new film as well, though in a different role.) If only there were some sort of apt metaphor that we could use to describe its dismal box office performance.
“Flatliners 2017 is the same dumb movie as Flatliners 1990, minus most of the surface charisma.” —Mike D'Angelo, A.V. Club
