The 15 Worst Movies of 2017
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded.
(#12) While 2017 is the rare year without an Adam Sandler comedy landing on our worst films list, you can rest a bit easier knowing that at least Nicolas Cage made the cut. (And that's even with Cage starring in just one film last year with enough reviews to get a Metascore.) Steven C. Miller's violent crime thriller wastes Cage's talents in a dull, overly stylized movie, though the actor gives it his best shot as an oddly attired crime boss. It's actually the same character that Cage played in 1993's Deadfall, another film seen by nobody.
“Despite attracting some top-drawer talent, “Arsenal” is a brutally unpleasant, bottom-of-the-barrel crime drama that unsuccessfully attempts to drown the terrible dialogue and pedestrian direction with buckets of gushing blood.” —Michael Rechtshaffen, Los Angeles Times
