Spring TV Preview: The 30 Most-Anticipated Shows
Does TV save its best shows for the end of its season? The answer may be yes, given that the next few months will see the returns of acclaimed programs like The Americans, Game of Thrones, Veep, and Catastrophe. There are also some promising newcomers headed to the small screen in the coming weeks, including several Netflix comedies, the latest from Shonda Rhimes, and a drama produced by Steven Soderbergh.
Below, we highlight 30 intriguing shows scheduled to debut between now and early May, listed in order by premiere date. (For information on other upcoming TV debuts, visit our TV Premiere Calendar.)
Streaming as an Amazon Prime original in the USA, this genuinely funny British comedy series written by and starring Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney was one of last year's best new shows thanks to its sweet-and-sour blend of raunchiness and warmth. This six-episode second season, which jumps forward in time considerably to show the unlikely couple as parents, already aired in the UK, where it collected even more excellent reviews. Horgan's new HBO comedy Divorce, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, should also debut later this year.
