Release date: March 23
Rescheduled from last fall, PC/PS4 release Revenant Kingdom is a sequel to Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, a charming JRPG from Level 5 (Professor Layton) that was the first game to feature animation from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke). The latter won't be involved in the new game, which adopts a similar visual style nevertheless as it follows a boy king on a journey of self-discovery through a world of darkness.
But the visuals are about the only thing that will feel familiar here. Expect a greater emphasis on action, and real-time battles, which will seem much faster than the previous game. The collectible "familiars," who aided you in combat, are also gone this time.
