Most Anticipated Video Games of 2016, Part 2: New IP and Indie Releases
Earlier this week, we previewed the most-anticipated videogame sequels and remakes coming in 2016. Now, it's time to look at a second batch of games that may be even more important to the future of gaming: brand-new IP. These newcomers may not yet have the name recognition that the established franchises have earned, but will hopefully bring something fresh and original to game consoles (and PCs) this year.
Sort of a more serene take on the film Gravity (though conceived prior to the movie's release), the first-person space adventure Adrift comes from Three One Zero, the game studio founded by Adam Orth, and it is inspired in part by the fallout over his infamous twitter feud while working at Microsoft. You play as an amnesiac astronaut who explores the wreckage of a badly damaged space station, searching for survivors and clues about what caused the incident—as well as a means to get back home.
