Film's One-Hit Wonders: 30 Directors With Only One Good Movie
Even the worst directors have one good film in them. Well, at least some of them do. In the gallery above, we've identified 30 filmmakers from the past four decades who have directed at least five features but have managed to receive positive reviews for just a single one of their films.
The indie director first grabbed the spotlight when his 2011 romance Like Crazy won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. But nothing in his filmography since then (or before it) managed to score positive reviews from critics. He'll have another chance to impress reviewers later this month when his sci-fi drama Zoe debuts at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Note that we do not have scores for 2006's Moonpie or 2009's Spooner, which played at festivals but did not get a theatrical release.
The one good film:
68 Like Crazy (2011)
Everything else:
56 Douchebag (2010)
60 Breathe In (2013)
43 Equals (2015)
50 Newness (2017)
