James Gunn brings his Marvel Studios trilogy to a close before he moves on to direct DC’s Superman movie with one last planet-hopping trip for his lovable band of misfits. After being fired as director in 2018 and re-hired a year later, Gunn got to work crafting their final adventure around Rocket’s backstory and his torture at the hands of the High Evolutionary (Peacemaker’s Chukwudi Iwuji). Will Poulter joins the cast as Adam Warlock, the creation of Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha, who was introduced as a villain in Vol. 2. Overall, critics are positive on the film’s jam-packed two and a half hours.
