Musical dramedy series debuts March 24 on Hulu
Missing Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and Crazy Ex Girlfriend? Hulu's got you covered with a new musical series boasting some impressive names behind the camera. Up Here is the latest in a not-so-long line of TV musical rom-coms—and an even shorter line of TV shows featuring original songs—and will feature new music from the Oscar-winning team of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Frozen, WandaVision). Also co-created by Dear Evan Hansen's Steven Levenson and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (My Name Is Earl), Up Here is set in New York City in late 1999 and traces the early days of a romance between two ordinary people (Mae Whitman, Carlos Valdes) trying to overcome their obsessions, fears, and recent history. Hamilton's Thomas Kail directs a cast that also includes Katie Finneran, John Hodgman, Emilia Suárez, Sophia Hammons, and Andréa Burns. The entire eight-episode season will be available to stream at once.
It's actually a promising few months for fans of TV musicals, as the following weeks will also bring the return of Apple's Schmigadoon! and a Grease spin-off series.
